folbot closed in March...
I just learned that folbot shutdown in March. I have a folbot Greenland II and was looking to get a smaller Cooper at the end of the summer. There are other manufacturers of folding kayaks out there but I was very happy with my folbot and mine has been in use since the early 90's. It's actually trav...

Re: Dedham Water Trail - 09/13/2014
So here's the map. Apparently there isn't any way to allow comments only editing, so if anyone has any problems with it let me know and I'll make any necessary changes.

PS: If someone does want the empty seat please call shotgun here so I don't have more than one person show up for it.
Thanks!

Re: New to the group
I should be there around 8:30 AM but it takes me 20 minutes or so to put my boat together. So show up at the Jericho Boat Launch around 8:45 am and we should be good to go! Oh, and if someone wants to join us and doesn't have a boat handy, mine's a tandem and I'll throw an extra paddle and crappy or...

Re: Fortune Bay, Newfoundland: A Love Letter
Wow, I want to go to Newfoundland now. This was a great report. I'm not much for the camping part (I like my hot showers and cold Scotch) but I'd consider making an exception for a trip this beautiful.

Re: New to the group
I'm planning on a morning on Scituate Harbor on Sunday if you care to join me. I'm not planning anything treacherous or anything; just some simple, relaxing flatwater kayaking. It's supposed to be high 70s, so it should be a nice day out.

Yes Chip, I think it's a well kept secret .
I'm slowly trying to create a Google Map of it and once I've done that I'll share it here. That way people can add their own comments and correct my poor navigation skills.

Re: Dedham Water Trail - 09/13/2014
Thanks Ken. I did my best to keep it short but there was a lot I wanted to cover so that others might get something from it.

Dedham Water Trail - 09/13/2014
Ok, so I'd read about the Dedham Water Trail online and decided to give it a try. Dedham Water Trail is a 6 mile flat-water loop in Dedham not far off Rte 128/95 on Rte 135/Common St. There is free parking at the Parks & Recreation Launch (#1 on the map) and they even provide trail maps at the l...

Wait, that sounds creepy. Oh well, hope to see you there. And now you know why it's so deserted.

Re: Early Morning, South Shore, Sat 09/06 anyone?
Ok, so I guess I'm going to Aaron River Reservoir. If anyone wants to join I'll be at the Wampatuck campground office at 8:00 AM. Look for the creepy 50-ish guy with the 70s porn stache in the 90s Corolla with no visible boat. Hope to see you there.

Ah yes, I do definitely consider that. However tomorrow my PPR is somewhat restricted anyhow. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Re: Early Morning, South Shore, Sat 09/06 anyone?
Cool, thanks. I had considered Monponsett but I've driven by it and it didn't look all that interesting from a kayak-exploring standpoint (please correct me if I'm wrong). Others I was considering are Long Pond, Billington Sea, and my old standby Aaron River Reservoir. However the last time I was at...

Re: Early Morning, South Shore, Sat 09/06 anyone?
I'm in Rockland. I want to stay south of the split and north of the bridge to avoid any sort of traffic getting in and out. I'm good for anywhere from Plymouth to Randolf so long as I don't need to take the highway.

Early Morning, South Shore, Sat 09/06 anyone?
I was thinking of taking out my recently acquired folbot greenland Saturday morning for some recreational paddlintg. I'd like to get started early, 8am or so at the latest and get back to shore by 10-10:30. It's a tandem so if you just want to bring a PFD that is fine. I'll have everything else but ...

Thanks Josko! I did just find that Nantasket Kayaks seems to offer instruction as well. I'm going to check on that later today.

Re: Newbie in need of lesson/pointers.
Thanks Ken, I'll check that out. I was hoping to get something in this week while I'm on vacation. I'm happy to pay for it if I can arrange it. If you know anyone who does this sort of one-on-one let me know. I should think 2 hours would be sufficient as I only plan on doing flat-water, recreational...

Newbie in need of lesson/pointers.
I just bought my first kayak (folbot greenland) and would like some lessons/pointers. Does anyone know of a place on the South Shore that does this sort of thing?
Thanks in advance.
