Hi Barbara,
I live in Westboro and get out pretty often locally. Whitehall Quinsig etc. I get with the turkeys when tide, custody, work, cycles all come together. If you would like to share a ride to one of the trips I can accomdate three boats on my vehicle.

Sorry nelson I meant House Is. I usually cut through the gut between the Ram Is go sea side of house. You have to stay out pretty far to avoid the reflecting waves from house especially with the activity in the atlantic. There is a another shallow spot east of Eagle which like Minots ledge the wave ...

I have paddled the charles from just south of Echo lake it's origin. If you have a few good days of rain you can paddle most of the river upstream of milford however it involves going through some rather lond aqueducts. If the flow is good you can put in off of 126 in caryville and enjoy some class ...

Good report Nelson. I would like to thank Bob for his assistance and Adam for some objective post experience insight. Other than needing to practice assisted recoveries more (I paddle alone mostly and self rescue) I see some room for discussion on when to assist a fellow paddler. Where John went was...

I just got the NRS splash top. I was thinking of the dry top but the gaskets are too irritating. I will jump in the water this weekend and see how long it keeps me dry. It can be snugged up pretty well at the wrists and waist. If you keep your torso relatively warm you have a good chance of survival...

NOAA is predicting wind speed Sun 11 AM 9 mph with 16 mph gusts. from the SW becoming Westerly and increasing to 11mph by 2PM. Present conditions pretty poor, and as my calouses are not up to digging into that wind I will have to pass. If anyone wants to try something a little more sheltered I am up...

Hi Hans, I have paddled out quite a bit in my Old Town Castaway 12.5 lenth 26.5 width no rudder or skeg. It does not have any bulkheads so I had inflatable flotation bags in the front and back. I could keep well if the wind was low or from the bow. However, on the return from the graves as we were h...

6 knots is 6.9 mph. I completed this trip in 3.5 hrs 15 miles and added 2 extra miles on the return due to the tide. An ave of 5mph for 3 .5hrs. I have paddled at 6.5 mph for an hour and a half and believe I could sustain 7mph for 10 min although I have not clocked it. Not being able to dig my way i...

Or "I went to Hull and back for breakfast" I saw Craigs post early Sun AM and PM'd him that I was heading out and was waiting for his call. Unfortunately no call came in so went by myself. It was 25deg when I left Westboro but warmed to 45 at Columbus park where I put in. The shallow slope of th bea...

Too bad Ellen, Actually I went out in boston harbor ~ 9:00 what a beautiful morning! no clouds, the sun was just over 10deg over the horizon. A cruise ship was passing the graves and it looked like it was suspended in mid air. As it was dead low tide the graves was sticking out furhter than I'd ever...

This is how most of my paddling occurs! I try to get the most milage in before my spouse yanks on the leash (really my wife has been very accomodating to my habit). I doo like to paddle hard and work up a sweat. I like the Charles for the scenery (especially now that the colleges are back in session...
