I tried logging out and back in and didn't see anything. Not sure what the difference is. I'm up to date on their patches.

I can't help but picture Briggsy out there kayaking at the height of the storm, looking like Slim Pickens riding the bomb at the end of Dr. Strangelove.

I'm sad (on multiple levels) to report that one of the original campers at our campground passed away the other night, and memorial services will be held on Sunday evening. Sue and I will be attending and won't be able to join you all. I'm pretty sure that I'm also speaking for Ron and Chip who will...

Re: Kayaking the North River
The food is good there. You're going to want to do this at or near high tide. You'll be going against the current in each direction, but it should't be terribly strong. Going with the current each direction would be kind of unpleasant, because with the water so low, you're going to be going over som...

Testing wide photo.
Ok, so it appears that it does resize the image for the display, so I don't think there should be any issue.

Re: Forum updated
Excellent question, Bea. If there is a limit, I'll expand it or eliminate it. As far as the size goes, I think that people should try to resize the photos to something reasonable. Anything much wider than 1000 px across is probably going to be lost on anyone, and will probably force the width of the...

Due to overwhelming demand ("overwhelming" being a relative term), I've updated the forum software. The default style is now mobile-friendly. The look is pretty spartan at this point, but I'll do my best to get some images up at the top.
Let me know if you find something doesn't work.

Yeah, it does look good. I'm 50-50 at this point. Lots depends on work. I have to put the kayak rack on the car and dig everything out. If I can't make it for the paddle, I might stop in for CMTPBIDA (Couldn't Make The Paddle But I'm Drinking Anyways).

Responsive forum poll
The forum software is currently two major upgrades behind. I haven't bothered keeping it up to date, because I'm a big fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". However, the latest versions make the default style responsive, which is becoming more and more important these days. I think tha...

I don't know. Sounds like an interesting idea, but I suspect that in actual usage, it could be a bit clumsy. I usually have my gps sitting flat on my spray skirt and I glance at it from time to time. It's not in a fixed position aimed at my face. Truth be told, I don't really have that big a need fo...

Re: GPS for kayaking
Why are waterproof/marine GPSs so freaking expensive?? A 2.2" screen is simply too small for my aging eyes. I bought a nice Garmin Nuvi 57 with a 5" screen for my car for $85. A waterproof GPS with a 4" screen (Garmin Montana 680t) costs $500. I just can't believe that the technology ...

Due to a lot of general complaining that Norm was in the video (and not all of it was from Norm), I've switched in a new one. The lighting isn't as good, but it's less flat water. I'll get better videos once we get into the season.
