Re: Hanson Skills - September 13

Well, since there is not a lot of interest for paddling tonight, I think I'll skip it and do some housework instead so that I'm freer to paddle this weekend if the good weather forecast holds.

It looks like the rainy weather should clear up before Thursday afternoon.

Is anyone planning to go to Hanson?

Hingham Tonight? 9/6/18

Is anyone thinking about paddling in Hingham tonight? Possible thunderstorms, but possibly nice? Are you an optimist or pessimist? High tide at about 7:00pm. Diminishing winds from the WSW from 10mph, lessening (unless thunderstorms hit...). Days are getting shorter, so there may not be many evening...

Sakonnet River - August 12, 2018

Thanks for posting this trip Diane. It turned out to be a great day in Rhode Island while there were horrible rainstorms in the Boston area. Perfect choice of location! Nice that there were 5 crazy optimistic people that made the drive down to Rhode Island in heavy downpours listening to reports of ...

Re: New to kayaking and wild turkey

Welcome keeponswimming! We have become mostly an open-water sea kayaking group where most of the trips that are posted require a longer sit-inside boat with bulkheads front and rear for flotation. (The longer boat is needed to be able to keep up with the group.) Most trips require a good level of pr...

Skills August 8 - Hanson or Canton?

Any chance we can get a night of practice in without thunderstorms this week? Where to go, Hanson or Canton or both? I believe a couple people are meeting in Canton and I think a couple others were planning on Hanson. Would people like to chime in on where, when and if they are planning to practice ...

I’ll be there. PPR too. May I suggest we paddle into the Weir river this time. Not sure if we have done that this year, and it is a very pretty paddle... High tide is at 4:03, right? So if you are talking about heading all the way up-river, the flow may be outgoing by the time we get there. Not sur...

Re: Skills July 26?

My guess is that all the showers are going to miss the Hanson area, the way the doppler looks right now. Lots of nastiness to the west, but I think Hanson is going to have a clear swath of sky at 5:00pm. I'm planning to head over there, leaving here at 4:00pm, so I should be there at about 4:45. Norm

Re: Skills July 26?

At 9:00am, the forecast is still possible scattered thunderstorms. Too early to tell from the doppler radar whether the current showers will have passed Hanson by 4:00pm. Why don't we plan to make the call about cancelling at about 2:00pm.

2018 Thursday Evening Paddling Schedule

It seems there has been confusion a few times already this year about where the Thursday evening paddle would be, Hingham or Hanson. So, a suggestion was made by Romaine that we should put up a schedule to help solve the problem. Romaine looked up the tide and sunset times and made a nice chart whic...

We meet in the Hingham Town Boat Ramp parking lot which is at: 3 Otis St, Hingham, MA 02043 There is a nice sandy beach beside the ramp that we launch from. Hingham - Thursday, July 5th

Is anybody planning to paddle in Hingham this Thursday? High tide is around 5:30pm.

Looks like it will be a nice evening but might be a little breezy again. At least there are no thunderstorms in Thursday's forecast right now...

I'll try to be there by 4:30, but might be more like 5:00.

Who is paddling in Hingham this Thursday? Looks like it will be a nice evening, hopefully less windy than last time.

Will more people come if we start later? There's plenty of daylight right now.

I agree with Jordan about the NRS Boundary boots for cold water. They are about 14” high , so you can usually get in the boat without getting water in your boot.
