Camp Kiwanee

FYI
For anyone who were planning to use the pond on Sunday 6/7 It is Hanson Day at the lodge and the road will be closed to most traffic. :( Due to the crowd they hope will attend, people will be bused in from the Indian Head School parking lot.

Re: Have a great birthday Skip!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. This has been a horrible kayaking year for me, didn't even do a foliage paddle. It's pretty bad when I can't even make it to Camp Kiwani It's only 2 miles up the street! You know how it is -- Grandkids, lawnmowing, yard work, grandkids, house repairs, truck repai...

The house next to Annisquam light is where we have been working off & on since January. It is Coast Guard property (vacant) and suffered a lot of water damage last winter when all the pipes froze up because someone had left the furnace shut off. It is a fantastic location and I seem to keep taki...

Weymouth sea kayaker

I just watched a video on the patriot ledger web site of a "sea Kayaker" who likes textured water. The video shows him paddling out alone into the waves on a SOT with no life jacket and no sort of cold water protection. It was an embarrassment to kayackers, I couldn't even watch it all. Skip

Re: Boat Trailering

I watched one of these come in at Nelson beach last year. The water was just covering the mudflats and this boat which was quite far out kept coming toward the parking lot. I thought - this guy is crazy he is going to destroy the prop, but he just kept coming and the boat seemed to be getting higher...

Re: Camp Kiwanee I talked to the caretaker today and found out the gate is almost always open and would only be closed after dark if there was a vandalism problem or a big party (graduation) in the area. Even if you should find it closed someday, it's not locked so it's ok to open it to access the p...

My kayak is a Solstice GT - High volume. It is fiberglass and just about 18' long. I think the style or shape may have changed slightly on the newer models since mine is probably about 10 years old now. Some of the other "turkeys" also have Current Design kayaks of different styles.
