Fall paddling on the Charles

65 degrees on Monday! Anyone up for an afternoon paddle on the Charles? I have been putting in at the Charles River Kayak rental dock on Storrow Drive and heading to the Museum of Science and back. I may go out on Sunday as well. Lots to see, crew boats everywhere and safe paddling for this time of ...

Re: Need safety kayakers for Great River Race

Anyone planning a car pool? I will be racing but could use help moving the car. I can fit one extra boat on my roof rack so could move my car to the finish and bring an extra boat back to the start.

See you there.

Cheers,

Bev.

Re: Current Designs Kayak Question

Hi Dave, I have a Current Designs Extreme HV (HV stands for high volume - slightly higher foredeck for people with larger feet etc). The Extreme is basically a narrower version of the Solstice. It is also 18 feet or so and quite fast. It is a great ocean boat and quite stable - I came back from the ...

Re: Registration Forms Now Available for NSRWA Great River R

This is a great race - go fast or just enjoy the ride with the rising tide. The six mile course feels like five with the push from the current. Very nice course and a fun social event at the end! Hope to see some of you there.

Westport River Race June 18

So here I am pushing racing again - there is a race on the river in Westport MA, that has an easy 3.5 mile beginners course and a longer race for those up to it. I did this race last year - very nice course and a party at the finish line! Go as fast or as slow as you like! Here are the basic details...

Essex River Race May 14 2011

Anyone considering a little early season racing? The Essex River Race is on May 14 this year. This is a nice way to start the season - a 5.5 mile race on the beautiful Essex River. You do not need to go fast to enjoy this paddle, and the $25 fee gets you a tee shirt and food at the awards party. Abo...

Must be something in the air - I have been chained to my desk as well. Did mamage an Isle of Shoals trip last Thursday - big seas coming home - up to 8' - more than just a little texture! Raced last Sunday in Lawrence, very nice course.

Hope to make the next one!

Hi all, Anyone planning on doing Ashland tomorrow? I am going rain or shine - and by that I mean if it is raining I ain't going! But - weather looks good an the boat is already loaded. If it is nice I actually plan on getting there early (4 ish) and putting in a few quick laps up and down the lake. ...

Hi Bea, It is the Bird Island Challenge. There is a 3 mile, 6 mile and 14 mile course. The 3 mile is all sheleterd water. Registration closed yesterday but they may take a late entry. Well, better than last year. 3 hours 50 mins. I was really cranking for the first 12 miles and in touch with most of the faster boats but somewhere on the back shore my camelback mouth piece fell in the water with the valve on and syphoned out the rest of my gatorade. The last 7 miles were a slog wi...

Jordan uses the casual strapless summer dress approach - at least I think that's what that thing he uses is. He claims it was a prototype for the 'Snuggie' but I have serious doubts. My wife bought me a tye dyed snuggie as a joke - I think I'll give it a try. I can terrorize the parking lot looking ...
