Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 9/14)

I plan to go tonight. Unfortunately, I can't come early. 6 is the best I can do. Sorry you still can't make it, Jordan and Laura. I think this is likely the ultimate session as it is getting dark early. Can't promise any rolls, Jordan, but I'm happy to say that I am starting to unfreeze the hip musc...

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 8/31)

OK. I am making a decision.

Next Tuesday (9/15) will be our next session. Afterwards we will go for PPR at the Thai restaurant.

I hope to see everyone next week!

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 8/31)

I agree about the next session ought to include Thai food afterwards. All, should we have our next session next week (day after Labor Day) or the week after (9/14)? Since the days are getting shorter, I don't know how many sessions we have left. Regardless, we should definitely celebrate a successfu...

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 8/31)

If I don't hear back from anyone before 4 (which is when I have to leave), I'm going to bail and finish something up at work. I'd prefer to paddle, but someone has to bring home the bacon to support my playtime. And the kitty doesn't bring mice or bacon, so.....

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 8/24)

Sounds like it's going to be quite rainy tomorrow. I know kayaking is a wet sport, but is anyone actually going to go? We can move it to next week if there is a quorum.

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 7/13)

We had fun. And Bev finally got wet practicing the rolls. (That is, after he got wet in the drizzle so it no longer mattered.)

Thanks Lora for your help. I am soooooo close...

I won't make it to the next session in 2 weeks, but I will see you at the one following.

Happy paddling!

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 7/13)

I'm not going to worry about T-storms as long as we have Stupendus Magister Bev. He'll just prance and skip and gambol in his stately tie dye robes waving his wingèd wand and muttering strange magical (?) things. The lake is indeed warm. As for changing...S.M. Bev may have a spell or 2 up his tie dy...

Re: Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 7/13)

Well, I figured out one major problem w/ my seat---one of the 2 contact points had released itself from the kayak! No wonder I had such an incredibly hard time doing a simple hip snap. I think I've managed to fix it. Also got some adjustable pads for my boat in Norway (I have to share it) which is h...

Re: Metro West -friendly training sessions (Tuesday 6/29)

Thor and Zeus were no-shows yesterday (Gee, too bad). Instead we had lovely, balmy weather with delightfully warm water. Perfect for learning to roll. Jane and I tried w/ Jordan's help to roll (no octopi or sharks were present). Jane had more success than I. It's amazing how critical proper padding ...

Barb,

The Sat. mentioned was 2 weeks ago. Although if people want to get together, I'm game.
Next biweekly session is 6/29 (Tuesday).

Metro West-friendly skill sessions (next one Tuesday 9/14)

Jordan and I have been talking about doing a skill session further inland. Rather spontaneously (10 min ago), we decided to do this tomorrow. (Surprise!) We are meeting at Ashland State Park Saturday morning (05 Jun 2010) at 10:30. A link to a map of the park is below. The parking lot allowing for c...

Re: Thursday Night Skills Sessions 2010

Ashland is a nice little lake. There are some shallows and beaches. I like to hop over there for a quick paddle. There is at least one parking lot where you park less than 20 yds. from the water. And it's never particularly crowded. I'd (selfishly, I'll admit) suggest going a little west for session...

I would love to join a skills session. (It's not like I really <need>to know how not to drown or anything. It's just a "nice to know") The problem is that there is NO way I can get to the south shore from Boston via Holliston by 6 on ANY evening of the work week. Would people be interested...

Anyhow, I noticed there are a bunch of people out in the MetroWest area like me and I bet you all have the same wish to join the Thursday night crew, but can't b/c of...
