Sunset / Moonrise Paddle July 2017

This year's sunset moonrise paddle shrunk to only four paddlers at the last minute this year. The weather was fantastic. The bugs were horrific - little no-see-ums or sand flees or something ate me alive and I'm still scratching 3 days later. Bea was properly prepared with a light, hooded jacket and...

Re: Sunset/Moonrise Party at the Spit?

Nancy - 5:30 should be fine. There won't be too much rush to get launched. Have you done this paddle before? Be prepared for getting muddy at the put-in.

By the way, this trip is also now posted in the "Upcoming trips" forum. Sorry for the confusion everyone.

Re: Is Thursday 6 July a Hingham Harbor night?

Hi John,
No, this is not a Hingham week - tide will be low at 4:20pm.
We will be meeting in Hanson at Camp Kiwanee for Skills practice.
See the posting in the "Skills and Training" Forum.

Sunset/Moonrise at the Spit - 7/9/17 6:00pm

Looks like Sunday, July 9th will be the optimum night for a sunset / moonrise party at the spit this year. Sunset is at 8:20pm and moonrise is at 8:37pm. Low tide is at 6:18pm. Feel free to double-check these details as it's been a while since I looked them up. How about meeting at the Driftway at 5...

Re: Sunset/Moonrise Party at the Spit?

What have we done before regarding a start time? Did we launch after dead low tide so that we know if we get stuck it will not be for long? I don't remember. I think I've missed this event for a few years.

Tall Ships Boston 2017

Two of us paddled out from Wollaston Beach to Spectacle Island to view the Tall Ships parade on June 17, 2017. We arrived at 6:00am and were on the water by 6:30. The conditions were very calm, but the fog was very thick. We could not see Squantum from our launch spot near Tony's Clam Shop. I was gl...

Sunset/Moonrise Party at the Spit?

Any interest in having a beach party at the Spit on the evening of Sunday July 9, 2017?

Looks like sunset is at 8:20pm and moonrise is at 8:37pm.

Low tide is at 6:18pm.

Shall we organize a trip and beach party this year? :D

Kate, I should be back in the kayaking mix this year after being sidelined by injury most of last year. I like trips in the 10 - 18 mile range with a little swell and current but nothing too crazy till I get my sea legs/arms back. I like paddling everywhere but don't want Cape trips on weekends. I m...

Let's see if I remember how to post a trip! Would anyone like to join me for a trip out to Spectacle Island on Saturday to view the Tall Ships parade? Hey Bea, you want to paddle with the boy and I, you can have the front seat of the double? All you would need is your paddle, life jacket and skirt. Interesting night-time event tomorrow night. I've been to it a couple times by kayak.
