I checked the distance (~ 85 miles) and realized I don't really feel like spending 3-4 hours traveling just to browse around unless somebody says its an incredible show. I'm mostly looking for cold weather paddle-wear right now anyway and I doubt there would be much of a selection for that type of s...

Is the boat still available? I just sprung the idea of buying boat #8 on my wife and she said I can buy whatever I want as long as she gets a new car when our youngest graduates from high school (2 years from now).

Are you coming to Jordan's pool session on April 15th by any chance?

N.E. Paddlesports Show

I just came across this by accident - surprised nobody mentioned it here - is the New England Paddlesports Show at UNH Durham worth the trip? http://www.ktpevents.com/interior.php/pid/3 Good thing we weren't in the area last week - they had a "Spring Turkey Event" with seminars on hunting turkeys! :...

Gearing up - Compass?

I don't see doing any long trips out of site of land, and I do already carry a GPS most of the time, but I was wondering if I should bother getting a deck compass? My thinking is that it might be handy for staying on a bearing if you get stuck out in the fog - the GPS can be a pain to see and fiddle...

I did that cache with my paddling cache buddies "yakingcampers" last June. We really enjoyed that one - started late and ended up finding it by flashlight. We paddle that pond a couple times a year. My geocaching handle is "nhcabi". You'll have to try the Nippenicket to Nunketeset multi when Jasta11...

Frogman - I'm another paddling geocacher. Actually that's the type of geocaches I like the most. They don't seem very popular with the general caching crowd, so don't be discouraged if you don't get many hits. Most paddling caches I've done were on small bodies of water in my recreational kayak - th...

There were a few dealers with kayaks there last year but I don't recall a lot of sea kayaks...mostly rec, river and fishing models. The boat show is much nicer at the new convention center - it is much easier to see everything and they have enough height to raise masts on the sailboats. They even ha...

Boat Show

Has anyone been to the boat show this week? I was wondering if there is anything interesting to kayakers. Boat Recommendation?

New member looking for advice on buying a day touring boat. I've been paddling in rivers and lakes with 9.5' rec boats for a few years and now I want to move up to coastal rivers and bays. I'm 6' tall and about 210 pounds. Not much money to spend - want to stay under $1000. So, I'm considering 14.5'...
