Re: Skills Thursday June 4th

It was beautiful weather in Hanson last night! Nice to have some new people joining the group. I hope everyone continues to participate. The PPPP worked out very well - didn't notice any mosquitoes. Wish I had remembered to bring my chairs. It'll be nice if we continue to get good weather on Thursda...

Adrienne - Welcome - Hope you can get there tonight - weather seems nice.

Eileen - I'm guessing we might be done at around 6:00 if the majority are getting there by 4:30. Hope to see you there.

Re: Skills Thursday June 4th

I'm planning to be there at about 4:30 with Sharon and we'll be using rec boats this week. I wonder if it would be ok to tailgate in the Venus 3 back parking lot rather than at Kiwanee? I'm concerned Kiwanee will have more mosquitoes than a paved parking lot.

Re: Old Quarry Campground Closed

I wonder how negotiable the selling price is? I'm sure whatever it is, there won't be many people that can afford it. I thought I'd take a look at the campground website one last time before it gets taken down (slow day at work). Looking through the photo gallery, I noticed a couple guys I recognize...

Got an email this morning from the AMC Boston meetup list that includes a web page with some ideas about how to perform rescues and raft-ups with some social distancing. Here is the URL for the web page with videos: https://www.onadventure.dk/assisted-kayak-rescues-and-rafts-with-increased-distance?...

I agree! Super sad news. I always wanted to do more trips up there but just did not get around to it. I can't imagine anyone would be willing to spend that kind of money and keep the place a campground the way Captain Bill did but we can always hope. Must be impossible to make a living with a campgr...

Re: Thursday - Paddling Hingham and Other Locations

Looks like it'll be windy mid-days this weekend. Maybe an inland river trip would be nice? I imagine the upper Charles and Sudbury Rivers are full of water these days? For me, I'll probably go biking instead of paddling this weekend since I got my bike fixed but my good kayak still needs repair.

Ken - I might want to take a ride in the car tomorrow and take a look at the Charles River parking lot. I haven't used any appreciable amount of gas in my car for weeks now. Might be nice to get out further than 2 miles from the house for a change. Wish I could take a bike ride there but my rear der...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my paddling buddies.

I hope my work schedule allows me to get out paddling more often in the coming year.

Looks like we may have a good ski season, so maybe I'll run into a few of you on the slopes again this year.

There's the NFCT Paddling Film Fest at REI in Framingham this week if anyone is interested.

It's harder to "defrost" when you've just spent and few days further south (Washington DC) where the weather was in the 70's and 80's.

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) hosts a Paddling Film Festival each year. Usually they have an appearance at the CRCK warehouse but I don't see that scheduled anywhere this year.
