Ok, if this is the thread for the river reports, I guess I'll chime in about the Saco. Friday, we ran the 5 mile section from "First Bridge" in North Conway to "Saco River Campground" where we are staying in our RV's. On Friday, all 8 of us paddled and the 4 teenagers swam along with their boats par...

River Trek - Androscoggin
For a few other Turkeys that have mentioned that they like river trips, here is a long, old article about an annual trip on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire/Maine. This year's trek started last week so I guess they reprinted this old article in June of this year. m Here's the URL to the water...

I won't be there this Thursday or any paddles this weekend. Leaving Thursday for North Conway for 5 days at a campground on the Saco. Can't say I'm camping on the Saco...we're RVing...I'm not into roughing it like some of you serious campers. Have fun out there and I hope the weather stays nice for ...

Tuesday Evening Paddle @ the "Nip"- July 8 - 6:00P
Lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater is very convenient to Rte. 24, close to the junction with I495. There is a state boat ramp with a large parking lot at: m Beside the ramp is a nice sandy beach for launching. The water is usually warm there and there may be some motorboat and jet ski traffic. Paddling...

Sunday morning lake paddle?
Looks like the weather may be ok tomorrow morning but the tide is out. Anybody want to paddle Long Pond in Lakeville? There is a good size state boat ramp at: m (The boat ramp is actully in Freetown.) I paddled there earlier this year but didn't have time to make it all the way around the perimeter....

The weather cooperated much nicer tonight than last Tuesday. It was a little breezy, but it felt nice with the temp somewhere around 80 degrees. Just 2 of us got out there, myself and Skip, for a couple hours of taking it easy paddling around the perimeter of West Monponsett pond. Thanks for coming ...

Tuesday Evening Paddle - July 1 - 6:00PM Push-Off
Second try at a Tuesday evening paddle - hopefully the weather will cooperate this time. This week I propose a paddle around Monponsett Ponds in Halifax on route 58, launching at the boat ramp at: m I choose this spot because I fear a low turnout on a popular vacation week, so I figure I might as we...

Sorry for the confusion Laurie...my fault. Your question was about Thursday and that is what Jordan was talking about...arrive any time and you'll be able to find us no problem. The parking lot is easy to find at Camp Kiwanee and the pond is just the right size that we can see everyone arrive and yo...

Laurie - Welcome to the group! Due to the holiday, there may be a low turnout at this Thursday's Hanson practice session but there are a few of us that are definitely planning to be there. Also, watch the general discussion section for a posting for a Tuesday night trip. I'm planning to choose a spo...

Hey Mike, didn't you have some binoculars in all that gear you had? That "cow" was too far away to see very well with the naked eye but I took a bunch of shots with my camera zoomed to the max. Most shots came out fuzzy, but a couple were clear enough to see that the cow had horns on it! I tried to ...

Thanks Jordan, you picked the right day and place as far as I'm concerned. Sorry to the rest of you that there wasn't more exciting "texture" out there for you, but I was very happy the water was fairly calm. I was thoroughly fried and exhausted by the time I got home - still tired after a 3 hour na...

Tuesday Evening Paddle - June 24 - Push Off @ 6:00PM
Ok, here's my first attempt at proposing an alternate evening paddle that could be open to both sea kayakers and smaller kayaks. How about paddling the upper reaches of the North River, putting in at the Hanover Canoe launch? I'm still a rookie at this, so please check my timing. The way I see it, h...

Tuesday Night As The Changing Location Weeknight Paddle?
It seemed many people were interested in an alternate weeknight paddling location when the idea was proposed. But after some reflection, nobody wanted to give up the traditional Thursday night schedule of Hingham when the tide is right, and Hanson for skills development on the alternate Thursday. Ho...

Well, I don't think I'll be attempting Plum Island this year and I don't own a fancy paddle, so I guess I'd have to volunteer to load/unload your boat from your car. Do I get credit for helping you unload your boat at the pool session in Randolph the first time we met? I think KG is in some sort of ...

I'm going to plan to come off the injured reserve list early and paddle tonight. Can't pass up this weather and a chance to meet more new people. Thanks Chris. I'm feeling fine now but I just have no energy or strength in my core. I don't want to slow anybody down or get out there and need a tow, so I'll have to get out and build up my strength in my rec yak on a small local pond for a while. The doctor said I still have some fluid in my lung...

I think switching around to different paddling spots on Thursday nights is a great idea! It gives people who can't always make weekend trips a chance to experience different places with familiar faces. For those who work in Boston, I think a "take your kayak to work day" could be interesting. I can ...
