Re: Out-of-town paddler looking for paddling partners Oct 24

Cohasset Harbor is a terrific place to paddle out of. I'm camping that weekend and can't make a trip like that, but hopefully you can find others that can. Parking is a little tricky, but you can drop of your gear and park a short walk away from the launch.

Hi, Adrienne - welcome!

Just curious... What did you get for a kayak, and what sort of paddling have you done so far. Would love to see you if you can stop by next Thursday. We tend to start earlier with the change in sunset times, so we're usually there by 4:00 and done by 6:00.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I really don't need to paddle with it; just briefly try it on for size. I'm mostly interested for the rolling aspect. I'm not unhappy with my Snapdragon for normal paddling.

Bea, you have a Chillcheater spray skirt, right? If so, could you bring it with you? I'm about to buy one, and I want to try one on for size. I'm getting the adjustable waist in either the s/m or l/xl, but their sizing is a little difficult to understand, so I'd like to actually try one.

Hingham - 9-18

I haven't seen a thread started about this, so here it is. I haven't been to the last couple of Hingham paddles, so I definitely want to make this one. Sun's setting so early, it makes it tricky. I'll try to get there in time to paddle at 5:00 if that works out for anyone. I know there are some that...

Re: North River

Yes, they're all on the North River. Technically, the Hanover launch is Indian Head River, but once you paddle down to the fork with Herring Brook (that leads to Pembroke Center), it's North River out to the ocean. Between Hanover and Couch Beach (and Blueberry Island, right next to it) the only pla...

Re: North River

You absolutely have to be mindful of the tides on the North River. If your goal is simply to get to the Spit, Hanover is definitely the hardest way to do it. However, if you're going for the very long paddle, then that would be the place. I'd guestimate it to be around a 12 mile trip from Hanover. I...

I'll be there. For anyone who hasn't been in a while, you should know that with the earlier sunset, people have been showing up much earlier and leaving earlier. No, you're not wrong about the interest factor of Monponsett. What it has going for it is the parking and a very handy restaurant for PPR.

Re: Early Morning, South Shore, Sat 09/06 anyone?

For a large inland body of water, Monponsett pond might be a good choice. Fairly large, and lots of parking next to the launch. m The North River is always a good place. I'd recommend the Union Street launch. Based on the tides for that day, 9:30 would probably be the optimal time to launch, but 8:0...
