I don't know what a bounder is, but if you meant "boulder" there aren't any in the pond at Camp Kiwanee, so I suspect you may be going to the wrong pond.

I understand it is possible to arrange an escorted trip through the canal for non-motorized vessels. I don't know anyone personally that has done this.

The other thing you can do with the hose trick is just stay upside down and paddle back to shore. Paddling a sea kayak while upside down is yet another stupid kayak trick that is perfect for Thursday night "skills" sessions.

I've done exactly what you are contemplating - on an aluminum shaft paddle. I just used a hacksaw and standard wood/metal drill bits to drill the new holes. I didn't notice that the balance of the paddle was affected by shifting the locking mechanism off-center, but it was a heavy paddle. I'm not su...

Woods Hole Current Play, Saturday 9-11

Next weekend has the fastest currents of the month in Woods Hole. The tides/currents line up nicely for a double play-session with max flood of 4.4 knots at 10:30AM and max ebb of 4.0 knots at 3:30PM. Plenty of time in-between for a leisurely lunch and/or paddle over into Hadley Harbor or out to Nob...

HI Linda - One reason for posting this for this coming weekend (other than the tides being right) is that it looks like it is likely to be quite calm in the wind and wave department. Martha's Vineyard and/or Play in Woods Hole - Saturday 8-14

Kate and I would like to gauge interest in either a paddle to Martha's Vineyard and/or a play day in the Wood's Hole currents for this coming Saturday, August 14th. The tides are right for a fast ride out of Woods Hole and over to MV on the flood current leaving around 10:30 -11:00. We would plan to...

Hi Briggsy - I've done trips to the Vineyard many times, on all kinds of tides. (Including a circumnavigation in November.)
