Avoiding the storms at Nauset, 25th July 2010
My plan was, as mentioned in the "Upcoming Trips", to go to Monomoy again but unfortunately Mother Nature didn't co-operate. Weatherbug, NOAA and TV News all forecast doom and gloom laced with thunderstorms in the afternoon. The weatherbug radar map even showed a large lump of yellow and r...

Johnysmoke, I actually planned a trip to Monomoy tomorrow which now looks like I am solo-ing, so I may go early early . T-storms are forecast in the pm down here which is another reason to go as early as poss. I may be able to get up there for late afternoon, I'll have a kayak loaded and gear all re...

Monomoy Thursday 29th July
Looking to paddle Monomoy again on Thursday 29th July, will probably follow a similar route to my "Monomoy revisited" trip ( see trip reports), but may explore the south channel from point 1 and/or the SE channel from point 7. Will launch from Battlefield Rd, Chatham. I would like to launc...

Naushon Island circumnavigation RE-SCHEDULED to 19th August
My plan is to circumnavigate Naushon Island on Thursday 5th August. This is not a "guided" trip and it is also THE most ambitious trip I have planned. The bad news is that due to the fact that there are strong currents in the Woods Hole area AND I only have weds and thurs off, we will have...

I have had the Thule 835 Hull a Port Pro for over 2 years no complaints. Easy to use and fold down when not in use and easy to remove off season.I have carried kayaks down to Florida and up to Bar Harbor as well as just down to the beach. EMS has a 20 % off sale right now.

Monomoy revisited Weds 30th June 2010
Wednesdays plans fell through last minute (that morning) and the weather was too good to stay home so a quick check of the tide tables showed Stage Harbor, Chatham as low tide 9.22am and high tide at 3.47pm. Similar times to the trip Norm, Bea and I did a few weeks back which worked out well then, s...

Re: Cape Cod (north truro) 6/26-6/29
Quisset will add another couple of miles to the trip . There is another tiny beach parking on the north side of woods hole village which we could land at and it would only be a 10-15 min walk to the parking area which would be OK. Kate, I read that trip report when it first appeared and loved it. Wa...

Jordan, I just did a quick "Google Earth Ruler" measurement around Naushon from Woods Hole and it reads +/- 20 miles ( 17 nautical miles). Even at 3 mph thats 7 hrs . Assuming we launch at 7 to 7.30 allowing for stops you should be on the road home by 4pm . Does that still work for you. A ...

Not sure where the seals will be. Still watching the weather as the forecast is changing by the hour......was sunny all day, now possible showers in the pm. I will more than likely go whatever the weather unless there is lightening forecast.

wellfleet-visiting the seals from the south 5-13-10
Thursday was such a perfect day, a shame not to be out paddling. I had read an account of a kayak trip here m and thought it sounded like a good trip. I paddled o...

Anyone know anything about the Prijon Chopper. I have a chance to get a used one and wondered whether it would be a good beginners boat for whitewater, nothing serious just messing around up at Cohasset with you guys maybe. I'm 6'2" 205lbs, it seems like a biggish boat. Thanks Briggsy
