Re: Cape Cod part 1 Weds 25th May 2011

I plan to launch around 10am from Monument Beach in Bourne. If anyone is interested in joining me, we should try to meet about 9am to shuttle although this is flexible. Forecast so far is patchy fog and possible showers...... Unless there are T-storms forecast I shall be going. I have a friend offer...

The 1.7 knots IS at the Waquoit Inlet. Unless you are going out into the Sound , tidal currents don't really affect kayaks in Waquoit Bay or the launch area.

Re: Washburn camping preparations for May 21/22

I just camped at Washburn last night, it was wet wet wet, but this morning (Thurs) it was fantastic!!! Anyone who likes fishing head out to the rock jetty(right hand side if heading out into the sound) and fish right at the end either side at low tide and for about 2 to 3 hrs after....stripers every...

I'm in no rush to do it and wanted to explore the harbors so thats why the twisty route. Pt 2 will be down to Quisset, then pt3 round woods hole to somewhere on the south coast. From there on its straight line paddling. Of course that could all change depending on who shows up. Cape Cod part 1 Weds 25th May 2011

I am aiming this year (probably continuing next year!!) to circumnavigate Cape Cod in small stages. So, on Weds 25th May, weather permitting I plan on launching from Monument Beach in Bourne, stage 1 is to paddle down to Megansett Harbor by way of Bassetts Is. Looks like its about 10 miles and could...

Re: please suggest outer Cape Cod paddling spots here

Nauset marsh is good, tides are generally an hour or two behind in the marsh than at the ocean. There are a number of launch sites. Beside the Goose Hummock Kayak store in Orleans is a free public ramp which is on Town Cove and links to Nauset Marsh. Salt Pond Landing is on Rt 6, 1/4 mile before the...

Re: Water Bladder Advice

I have 2 x 10 liter Dromedary bags (the tough black ones) . I have hung mine from trees no problem. Also even when full it will go in my day hatch. I'm not keen on putting them in the cockpit as it will hinder an escape during a capsize. Just trying to get in your kayak with one of those in the cock...

Florida Everglades Feb 2011

My original plan was to kayak from the north of the park to the south with 2 friends, but they backed out late so I decided to do an 8 day loop from Flamingo in the southern half of the park as a solo trip. I left home at 4am and after overnighting in S.Carolina arrived at Flamingo in Everglades Nat...

I'm not sure how busy the Battlefield Rd area will be this time of year mid week, but we do have the advantage of being able to squeeze all our vehicles together really closely as we are all arriving and departing together.
