Duxbury Bay Fishing 8-27
Got a call from Adam about fishing Dux this afternoon. We met at Howland's Landing at 2PM. We could see the terns working on the far side of Kingston Bay and up toward Cordage Park. A fisherman just finishing up told us there were both blues and stripers in the bay in force. It was high tide, so the...

Brady said he has observed smaller numbers of seals around South Monomoy late this summer, and has observed a group of several hundred which have apparently taken up residence near Aunt Lydia’s Cove. Though numbers are down sharply in recent months, Brady said there are almost certainly still a lar...

No Seals
Jordan: Linda, Ken and Lucy were at Monomoy this past weekend and Linda says they couldn't find any seals. They paddled well down the east side of South Monomoy without finding the big grey seal colony. Rumor has it the seals have left town for new digs. You might want to check with somebody local, ...

I think I can make this Thursday, despite the long drive. May be my last of the season, however, due to some expected schedule conflicts once school starts. Dry Hat roll is so last year. What I want to try next is rolling a 4x8 sheet of 1" plywood. Or what Doug described to us one night: throw paddl...

Hey Jordan, I guess I misunderstood you when we talked yesterday. Seal Town is on the east side of South Monomoy, not the west side. You need to head down the east side past the channel between South Beach and the northern tip of South Monomoy Island and keep going. Not that you can't see seals just...

Hingham Harbor Tonite?
I see 50% chance of scattered T-storms for Hingham this evening. Is the usual Thursday night paddle still on? The Cohasset wave is early today, so I can get my whitewater fix and then paddle with you guys afterward.

It looks like the roll you are doing is closer to a screw roll than a C-C, but it doesn't really matter what you call it, as long as it works!

The put-in is at Plymouth Long Beach (Warren's Cove). Landmarks are Bert's Restaurant and Sandy's Clam Shack. It's right off 3A across the street from Plimoth Plantation. The paddle out to Brown's Bank from there is maybe 2 miles. Bring headlamps, glowsticks, etc. for the paddle back. Also food and ...

How About a Brown's Bank Paddle?
How about an evening paddle out to Brown's Bank, instead? Low tide is at 8PM and it is a low-low, so Brown's Bank will be exposed for a few hours tomorrow night. Good place to hang out, eat, drink, whatever, then paddle back after sunset.

Hanson Pond Closed to Swimming Again
As of this morning, the Hanson Board of Health has posted No Swimming signs at the town beach at Camp Kiwanee. So no skill session there this week, I'm afraid.

The Cobra VHF was able to contact Coast Guard Woods Hole from Nantucket last fall when a more expensive Icom or some such could not. The so-called waterproof models fail regularly for sea kayakers, so why spend the money. The flares are a requirement if paddling Coast Guard regulated waters between ...

Hanson Pond Sessions Moving to Every Other Week
Hi: A bunch of the regulars agreed last week that we would be doing the skills sessions bi-weekly from now on. This will mesh with the WT Thursday Night Hingham Paddles, as we will do Camp Kiwanee skills night on the opposite Thursdays. So, this week is Hingham paddle, next week will be Hanson Pond ...
