Todd - I did have my camera with me on the Saco. I think the best picture I shot was a bird I have not seen before. Checking the bird books when I got home, I think this is a Green-backed Heron? Can anybody confirm this identification? http://home.comcast.net/~nhc1205/photos/Green_Backed_Heron.jpg

Ok, if this is the thread for the river reports, I guess I'll chime in about the Saco. Friday, we ran the 5 mile section from "First Bridge" in North Conway to "Saco River Campground" where we are staying in our RV's. On Friday, all 8 of us paddled and the 4 teenagers swam along with their boats par...

River Trek - Androscoggin

For a few other Turkeys that have mentioned that they like river trips, here is a long, old article about an annual trip on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire/Maine. This year's trek started last week so I guess they reprinted this old article in June of this year. m Here's the URL to the water...

Thinking of trying the Androscoggin River if the Saco is too tame or dry.

I won't be there this Thursday or any paddles this weekend. Leaving Thursday for North Conway for 5 days at a campground on the Saco. Can't say I'm camping on the Saco...we're RVing...I'm not into roughing it like some of you serious campers. Have fun out there and I hope the weather stays nice for ...

You may be right Mike, it may be busy there on Tuesday. I just got back from Long Pond where the state boat ramp lot was almost full. I had to pay an attendant $4 to park and the Environmental Police were there checking the motor boats. I guess I've always been there off-season in the past.

Tuesday Evening Paddle @ the "Nip"- July 8 - 6:00P

Lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater is very convenient to Rte. 24, close to the junction with I495. There is a state boat ramp with a large parking lot at: m Beside the ramp is a nice sandy beach for launching. The water is usually warm there and there may be some motorboat and jet ski traffic. Paddling...

Sunday morning lake paddle?

Looks like the weather may be ok tomorrow morning but the tide is out. Anybody want to paddle Long Pond in Lakeville? There is a good size state boat ramp at: m (The boat ramp is actully in Freetown.) I paddled there earlier this year but didn't have time to make it all the way around the perimeter....

The weather cooperated much nicer tonight than last Tuesday. It was a little breezy, but it felt nice with the temp somewhere around 80 degrees. Tuesday Evening Paddle - July 1 - 6:00PM Push-Off

Second try at a Tuesday evening paddle - hopefully the weather will cooperate this time.
