Hey Pat,
I just checked my Cetus and the skeg control is glassed in like yours but there is a plastic tube coming out of the back with the skeg cord inside. Mine is a cord, not a metal cable. You could email the Kayak Centre of Rhode Island, Wickford.

UPDATE..... For next week's trip, I'd like to meet at Morris Island Causeway by 8.30am and shove off at 9am. Make sure you come along Chatham Main St to Chatham Light and then to Morris Island Causeway. There is another route that will bring you from Stage Harbor Rd across the bridge at Bridge Stree...

I was thinking of going to Nantasket Beach in the afternoon before the wave to try some surfing there, is there any particular area there that is best, any advice on parking and where to launch a kayak from the beach while avoiding the wrath of lifeguards ?

White Horse Beach has no lifeguards or restrictions regarding landing a kayak. Usually the only people on the beach there are the vacation rental people. There are no parking lots there other than a couple of vacant house lots that the owners charge for parking, so no huge crowds.

Chris thanks.I have a sprayskirt for the Cetus and one for the next size up that fits my tandem but that doesn't have the neoprene tunnel. I may need to borrow one. And the only paddle I have is a Werner Shuna 215cm. No-ones comitting to a date so shall we go for the 9th and if its a raging success ...

The movie was made by Bill Mason a million years ago and is an hour and a half long, but there are some wild scenes at 25.30 mins and 45.45mins. Worth checking out even if you don't canoe.
