You can park right at the yacht club in Pocasset. There are even heated bathrooms with showers there that are for public use. Bassett Island is right offshore. Look up Kingman Yacht Center, Pocasset, on Google Maps and you'll find it. Coordinates 41.676470, -70.615901

I was on Calf and Outer Brewster about a month ago. Calf had a campsite set up which was kind of trashy, but that could be completely gone now. Other than that, I didn't notice any untoward messiness. I think you will be okay with your camping plan.

Re: Closed Cell Foam
Both my kayaks have foam (one also has footpegs, for when I really want to be tight in the boat). Stretching the legs is something I do outside the boat - I guess you could do a cut-out in the middle though, if you have a bulkhead behind it to brace the foam on the sides. I'd like to add a wedge tha...

There were a good many challenges taken up last night! Tracey not only continued her roll practice, but also acted as victim in an assisted rescue. Each place has its own issues: Windmill Point - parking no problem. Boat traffic big problem. Ferry, Coast Guard, and a narrow channel with lots of traffic. If I understand correctly, you're suggesting a venue in the Hingham area? I tried to put a similar session together last year at New Inlet with only one taker. This location (in benign weather) offers small surf and current on the outside, quieter water inside the river mouth. Duxbury's a good spot ...

Horizontal is my preferred method too, and it's very rare to have to enter or exit the kayak at a dock. So, not to worry. And I've seen lots of tip-overs at the shoreline as people get in and out of their boats. It's all part of the fun. You are doing fine. You may find it easiest to slide back from...

I'd like to return to last week's venue, heading out from Ryder's Cove in N Chatham - this time WITH the tide - and continuing south along the coast of Monomoy until the tide turns, then riding it back. The Cohasset put-in is at Cohasset Harbor Marina at the end of Parker Street. You park and unload, then move your car back to Border Street, on the other side of the bridge from the Harbor Master, just past the Lobster Pound. This is legal parking. It will only be problematic if you have a bazillion...

I was interested in getting to the Monomoy area but wanted to kayak the outside (ocean side) rather than the inner west side. I'm looking to get out on Sunday, doesn't have to be an epic trip, but I'm not interested in rivers or lakes, only ocean. John, You are interested in this boat for surfing point breaks? The design is interesting but they've made it just a little large (23" w x 13" d) to be a really sharp performer, IMO. I like the outfitting though. Dagger knows outfitting. If it were just a tad narrower/lower, I'd want to gi...
