Circumnavigate Georgetown island, Maine, on 5/17

A few of us are circumnavigating Georgetown island (with ideal tidal currents) on May 17. I am booked into the Moorings B&B: m starting Thursday night, ( 5/15) and am planning to surf Popham beach or hang out at the mouth of the Kennebec on Friday, go around Georgetown on Saturday and maybe do a...

99?? isn't there anything better within driving distance??? :(
That whole area between Rts 24, 495 and 3 seems like a major gastronomical wasteland.
I think I'll try to make it - would like to meet Doug.

Rhode Island, Sunday, 11/24

We seem to be getting a group together for a paddle somewhere in Rhode Island on Sunday 11/24. It looks like it'll be blustery, but shouldn't be bad with a dry suit. I'll post more details here as soon as I know them.

Can somebody please post the time to shoot for at Venus III? 630?

I flukned my 4* assesment on Sunday, so might need a little shoring up. :)

Play in current, Sunday 10/6 Tiverton, RI

Here is the trip posting from RICKA for a current play trip at Old Stone bridge, Tiverton: m Tim Motte is a BCU 5* and a great guy, so this is a great chance to become (more) comfortable in current. I think this'll be a great trip. Don't be put off if you've never been in current - it's a perfect op...

Surfskis are technically sit-on-tops, and surfski paddlers typically don't wear PFD's but instead tether themselves to the ski which serves as a flotation aid. Some of those folk are very capable.

Re: BCU2 training

I would not underestimate BCU 2* sea classes. Many folks have a very limited repertoire of paddle strokes, and the main objective of 2* training is to expand the number of strokes and 'imprint' appropriate conditions for use of each one. The training is done on flat water to be able to focus on stro...

Launched at Sportsmans marina for an absolutely great day on the water. We saw more bald eagles than (moving) motorboats all day. I was very surprised at the beauty of that section of the river, as it's in a fairly densely populated section.
