Re: End of Season - Roll off
Well, I'll try to make it, although I'll stand a better chance in a drown-off and n in a roll-off.
Seriously, I'll show up, try a few rolls and catch up with folks.

I notice that Osprey Sea Kayak has a 'Kayak touring' (ACA Level 2) course this Saturday (9/6) and a 'Wind, current and waves' (ACA level 3) class this Sunday (9/7): m They're in Westport (on the south shore), and Carl Ladd is an extremely gifted kayaking instructor. Eacape summer heat and join us on a fun 4 week, 700 mile sea kayaking trip to Northern Labrador. Leaving Boston area on 7/18, hopefully back by Labor day. Familiarity with Katabatic winds, icebergs, fog, monster nor'easters, firearms and reassembling bear victims necessary. Ability to keep cool arou...

Re: BioLite Camp Stove
I have one and am pretty disappointed with it. The charger feature is cool, but as a camp stove, it's a long shot from a liquid-fuel stove. Very finicky, hard to light without firestarter 'stuff', needs constant feeding, wood has to be chopped/sawn into cubic inch pieces, soots up pots, takes 'forev...

Yes, please register with the AMC. Last year there were over 40 people who wanted to go on that trip, and we had to disappoint some of them. Also, the registrar will want to assess your skills and equipment, as this trip is not suitable for beginners. Pease pardon the bureaucracy; we're trying to en...

Werner Ikelos bent shaft 215 cm paddle. This was my primary paddle, and it shows some wear. One half of the paddle was replaced last fall by Werner, and the other paddle has some wear and scratches. $220

Fiberglass (blue blade), fiberglas shaft. Some small scratches at the end of blade. Purchased new August '13. This is an excellent first wing blade. I'm moving to a larger blade with more twist.
