Lora - Keep in mind that when you come out with the group, you can always get help to unload and load your boat onto your car and get it down to the water. Don't be bashful - just ask for a some help when you need it. You'll see some of the guys hefting their own boats around alone, but they're just...

Pemigewasset River - August 1st + 3rd 2008

This past weekend I did a few kayaking trips on the Pemigewasset (Pemi) River in New Hampshire. I thought I'd share some details for those interested in rec or river boat kayaking. Below are GPS coordinates for 5 put-ins/take-outs on a 14.5 mile section of the river from Woodstock to Campton. This s...

akayakher - The usual drill is that some people head to Hingham straight from work, arriving as early as 4:00pm, put their boats in and drift around near the beach at the boat ramp. Then, by 6:00 there are a bunch of people antsy to head out into the harbor. Your best bet is to show up as much befor...

I'm back from paddling the downhill freshwater where you're moving 5 mph with no effort. Ready to get back into the salt water with the skinny long boat and paddle with the gang Thursday night.

Kate - thanks for going to all the work of sharing your photos and story. I've passed along the URL to some friends that I go RV'ing and river kayaking with and they all enjoyed it too. I can't call what we do "camping" when I look at what you have accomplished in kayaks.

Chris - Thanks for organizing a great trip - a week's worth of paddling in one day! My GPS total mileage read 18.85 miles. The sampling of speed showed we hit 7 mph for a one minute stretch after lunch, but I don't know how accurate that really is. Brian - Sorry I didn't say hi. I was very tired aft...

Going to be stuck at work late and won't be able paddle today. Anybody interested in a short paddle on the quietest section of the Nemasket River?
