NSRWA's Halloween Paddle

Since I could bring the kids, I was able to attend this fun event. Doug and crew did a great job of making an entertaining trip of a day that started out questionable with high winds, strong current, and full-moon flooding. Here are the pics I took http://www.sdrimages.com/gallery/3734163#214491223 ...

I've seen them while sailing off of Block Island. Another common shark-sighting mistake is sea turtles. They will sometimes swim sideways on the surface with a fin sticking up. I've made this mistake twice. I have yet to see a shark, though (aside from a small sand shark that chased my 3-year old ni...

Sorry I missed it. Woke up that morning with a major sinus headache.

However, my wife went out for a bike ride and stopped on the Union St Bridge to watch the start. She said the Turkeys must have been present since there was a boat covered with 'em. Well done!!!

Re: The T and Cowboy scramble rescue

Only drawbacks, seems to me, are the lack of physical contact with the swimmer as they enter the cockpit, the sheer newness of the drill, and how tough it seems it might be for the rescuer to steady the swimmer's boat. also, the paddle is left unmanaged and could easily float away in windy conditio...

Contrary to the forecast, the weather was ideal except for a brisk breeze that had me a l...
