There is a great picture of Minot's during last weekends storm on the PatriotLedger page.

I was in Hull on Sunday and kicking myself in the ass for not bringing my camera.

Minot Light didn't look quite like that when I saw it though.

Too bad they didn't give us a bigger picture to look at.

Thanks for posting.

I don't understand. The image on the first link is barely 200 pixels wide. It has a link to the second page if you want to view a high resolution image. The "high resolution" image is only 75 pixels wide. What am I missing?

I don't get it either, I would have really liked to have seen a larger image.

Well I figured that out but it usually helps to be able to see what you're buying with a bit more clarity :? .

We could just send you out there next storm to get some close ups for us. I'd pay to see that :D

If the lighthouse is 114 feet tall, that is like a 100 foot wave.

Oh, but the lighthouse measures from it's base on the ledge, so only about 90 feet of it shows above the waterline at low tide, or around 80 feet at high tide. So it's a 70-80 foot spray, maybe twice the height of the actual wave, so let's say 40 foot wave, tops. Still twice what the highest buoy readings were at the height of the storm. But an 18 foot wave on the open ocean could easily double in size when it hits shallow water. So I guess I can believe this picture.

The surfing has been great this week. :D :D

Thanks Chris - using that as a desktop background is a great idea.

For me it's a excellent reminder of my first trip with a group of Wild Turkey Paddlers! As I recall, Mike's plan was that we were going to take a nice easy trip in the Gulf River and then out to Strawberry Point, but we went all the way out and around the light when we saw that the conditions were almost perfect - nothing like what is seen in this picture...

Can't wait to get back out paddling...but not crazy enough to get out there right now like some of you guys. I think I'll wait till the air temps hit 60.

Yeah, we get into the cruel part of the paddling season. Temps get into the upper 70's, but the water is still 12 degrees.
