Good News, Happy News should travel fast!
Chris made a bunch of rolls last night in the pool session in Middleboro!
Congratulations to Chris!

I was in the Tempest, and Jordan had me trying a sweep with an extended paddle. I used his WW paddle at first and then my aquabound. After switching back to my paddle I realized how much flex is in the blades.
Still have to work on my hip snap & timing. And if it fails I have trouble getting things setup again. The blades of my paddle are white so it's hard to see if the blades oriented correctly against the roof of the pool. So I have to run my hand up to the blade and back. I may try to put a strip of tape on the face of the blade and see if that helps(but I should be able to do it without seeing it).
Thanks for the help Jordan!

There are many others here who can you teach you! As far as the difficulty; it is still there; but I know that it is possible for me now. The classes were a big part, I'm sure that I could have gotten similar results eventually at Hanson or Hingham with the help of some of the great paddlers here. The pool does make it easier to concentrate on what you're trying to do.
I bought a couple of videos over the past month or two - "The Kayak Roll" - which teaches a sweep roll & the one the Kate recommended "EJ's Rolling & Bracing". This one presented bracing in a different way than I'd seen before.
I'll usually watch one of them during a workout and hope that some of seeps in. If anyone wants to borrow one let me know.
But I think that sticking the "self-righting kayak" mojo in the dayhatch was the key.
Who wants it next?

You are the next caretaker. It works better than burying a statue of St Joseph[1]when you're trying to sell a house!
