Monday Paddle - Duxbury/Plymouth area

Post by Chip »

Hi All,
Pat and I are planning a Monday paddle in the Duxbury/Plymouth area. We haven't decided on the launch site yet. We will launch around noon and hopefully hit some choppy stuff in the harbor. I am bringing my stove for a hot lunch break. We will be going if the weather is drizzling or sprinkling. A downpour may keep us away but I am not sure.

Any interest?

Time will be the deciding factor for me. Any idea what time you'll be heading out?

I'll be bringing my famous black bean soup. Chip will be bringing his camp stove to heat it up for those who survive the crossing.

Exactly what we do will depend a lot on the weather. The current plan is to paddle across the bay to Clarks Island, then jut over to Saquish. We'll cook up a little soup at that point and then likely head back, or nearly so.

For those planning on coming, if you have a compact fold-up chair, it might not be a bad idea to bring it. When we stop for a bit to eat, you might want to have something dry and comfortable to sit on.

Yes. This is from "Peter's Put-ins":

Duxbury, Howlands Landing (Just west of Myles Standish monument) Rte 3 exit 10 (S. Duxbury) Travel on 3A north 2 miles right onto Chestnut Street, 1 mile to Hall's Corner. At the flagpole, 2nd right onto Standish Street - 1/2 mile turn right at Crescent St (tennis court) 1/2 mile turn right at Howland's Landing. No facilities, but good water even at lo tide.

Meet there at noon. Glad you're coming!

Ok. I know the place. Not much parking, but probably not going to be a problem today.

I'll bring my stove to heat up some water for tea. Any need for my grill?

Only if you're bringing something to grill (and don't let me talk you out of THAT). I'm bringing some soup (enough for everyone, hopefully).

I was thinking of running to the store to grab something to grill. But, at this point it's not looking like I'll have time... so, no grill. I have one of those loaves of bread from the Star bakery that'll go good with the soup. I'll bring that.

How many are coming?

If you'd like. But I am bringing bread.

How many are coming?

yep... 4 wet hours summed up in one graphic. We should have left the kayaks closer to the waterline so we would have had more to talk about afterwards

It was good seeing you guys. It's been too long.

Steven, nice photos. Thanks for taking them. Glad you came along.

Pat, I'm glad I can always count on you for a laugh. Very funny  !
Great bean soup but my wife's not too happy about it

Nice paddle guys. Hopefully we'll have a few more before this year is over.

My only change was to use beef broth rather than veggie broth, although I'll bet it's good with veggie, too.

Looking for something to do? How about this...

We need to find new photos to go at the top of the main pages of the website that reflect more closely what we're about these days. The thing to keep in mind is that they have to be kind of wide and not very tall. There's a lot in the photo gallery.

Hi guys.

Great photos Steve. I liked the one with one Pidgeon and 1000 gulls!

Sorry I missed you. Realized Sunday night that the sticker on the kids car expired 10 days ago, so I spent my afternoon at gas station. I just could not send them to school in the car today knowing the the sticker was no good.

I would pick kayaking over the gas station waiting room with the TV blasting! But I didn't have a choice.
