Yes and yes. I'm guessing it'll take about 40 min from Marshfield if traffic is perfect, so we'll have to give enough extra time for traffic.

Oh that hurts,
A perfect evening, and you're all gonna be right in my neck of the woods, and I have to go to my 3 hour seminar tonight! Hope you guys have a great paddle. Do you go down as far as Pope John Paul park by the bridge? I might see you all when I'm coming home from school, I'm really quite jealous. Have a great time.

Hi guys!
Pat, do you want me to pick you up? A little bit before 4:00 pm. Hope you know how to get there, because I am clueless?
This is a double day for me. I am lauching from the Driftway at 10:30 am for a quick lunch paddle to the Spit. Not to shabby.
Pat, post me a message here what you want to do. I'll be checking in after I come back from the Spit.

Not sure
Chip, I'm not sure how far you can paddle down towards the mouth.
I haven't been around the bend yet to head up the Neposet, it is on my short list. I definitely would like to give it a try. I'm sure it is much prettier up Milton/ Canton way than it is down at the Quincy end. I used to bike up around the Milton end then down to the Quincy shore when I was living in Dorchester. Hopefully the next time you guys paddle up that way I can join you and check it out.

Dave, Chip:
I've gone up the Neponset from Dorchester Bay - you can go just past the Milton YC in Milton Lower Falls without portaging. You'll get stopped by the remnants of a dam at the Lower Falls near the old Baker Chocolate Factory. I went just after high tide and could not paddle thru the remnants of the dam - too many rocks, too shallow and current running seaward pretty swift. You might be able to do it at slack water. Dave - you'll probably end up with some more dings on that 18' beauty if you try!
A dry portage at this spot is out of the question - you are walled in the river with high perpendicular granite block retaining walls at this point. You if you are very agile in getting out of your boat in 2' to 3' of water (or if you have a SOT or Canoe) you might be able to hop out and drag your boat over the remnants of the dam - be adivised that I gave up on attempting this becaus I found the bottom to be all slick and slimey rocks and the current was too much for secure footing.
For those of you going from Milton to Canton - have a good trip! I'll look for the report!

Thank you for
the heads up Craig! I don't want to use up that gelcoat repair kit on one trip! So it's ok till around that Lower Falls area? That might be a fun trip too.
Yes,
Glad you can make it with the short notice and all.
Rte 138 towards Milton. Left at 2nd light (brush hill rd). Maybe a mile down on the left. Just past a school and fields. The road ends and joins another. Kind of like a Y. There is a little park with one of those wooden info boards.

Trip report:
We came.
We saw.
We got eaten by mosquitos.
Yawn.
I think everyone was in agreement that it was great being out paddling, and it beat the heck out of working, but we won't be back soon.
Some photos illustrating the diverse environment we encountered.

Hi Chip!
Great report. Thank you for taking the time.
I agree with you. Fall would probably be the best time to kayak this river as the foliage would make it interesting. That is, if you have any water left? It seemed pretty shallow.

Hi Pat.
Wait a minute. The 4 photos you posted, are they all the same photo just mirror imaged?
I am not going to fall for that................OK, I did, but I should know better by now.
I am accumulating "pay back time" points against you, as you keep tricking me! OK!
