Thursday Nights in Hingham! 2013

Post by kayakerjnj »

Its time again to have our regularly schedule after work paddles in Hingham.

Starting May 16th!

It's still early so plan on wearing appropriate cold water attire and PFDs.

People should plan to arrive and be prepared to launch by 5:30 PM as it is still early in the season. As the season progresses we'll push it out to a 6PM launch.

Our first Thursday will have a high tide around 5PM, so it should be a good day to start our alternating schedule.

For those who are new to the WTPaddlers, we alternate between Hingham and Skills in Hanson on Thursdays. It gives us a mix of practice and attempts to give us favorable launching and return tide conditions to avoid the mud in Hingham.

Looking forward to another fun season, and hope to see everyone soon!

Thursday is looking to be a nice warm one, it should take care of your goose bumps Chip :P

Please RSVP ahead of time if you are planning to join the fun and go to STARS for PPR. I try and call ahead to make reservations to avoid long waits.

Have a good week.

It's a long drive from New Bedford but I'm going to try to get out early and make it as well.

I'll be in Humarock on the 16th, but am going to a meeting in Scituate to find out if they are predicting that my house will be under water by 2050.

Will try to make the next week Hanson practice.

Here's where that wet exit training could REALLY come in handy!

Hi Everyone,

I'll be there for both.
Not sure what I'm looking forward to more.
The paddle or a Southwestern Salad.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Please count me in for both, although it looks like it is going to be very WINDY.

I have a new seat I want to test drive in the Exploder.

I have never been to Bumpkin Island before. Is it a very long paddle?

I plan to be there for the paddle. Not sure if I can stay for PPR. Depends on whether I can get somebody to cover for my work on-call duties this evening.

Maybe we should plan to circle Slate Island tonight. That would give us about a mile of paddling directly into the wind and then a mile of riding back to the Hingham harbor entrance. Of course Jordan can run ahead and also circle Grape and look for a ride on the commuter boat wakes. :D

I was thinking we could duck behind World's End out of the wind. Then just have to cross the harbor into the wind on the way back. A downwind ride back does sound nice, though!

Well, you just KNOW that Jordan will lobby for portaging across World's End at that narrows.

I'm not sure. Got so much to do to prepare for an early start to Washburn tomorrow. Have my boat with me at work. Will probably decide this afternoon. If I do go to Hingham, no PPR for me tonight.

I haven't seen Jordan yet today so I guess I can make reservations at Stars. It's looking like 6 so far. I'll wait until around 2:30 or 3:00 before I call them. Who else is going?

If you are waiting until 6:00, I will try to make it for paddle and PPR.

I'll be there taking prom pics of my daughter! Yes, this is the night of HHS senior prom.
