Long Pond Lakeville - Sunday Morning - 5/12/13 - 8:30AM

Post by norm »

Hoping for the best even though the current weather forecast is not good. Tracey picked the spot. Jordan and I need to be done early for afternoon commitments. May be done by noon or a little later if anyone wants to stay till 1:00 or so. (I need to leave by 1:30) If we follow the perimeter of the lake, it could be about a 9 mile paddle.

Meet at the State boat ramp on route 18 at 8:30am for 9:00am launch.

Ramp location: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=41.783233,-70.929412&ll=41.782949,-70.930749&spn=0.003372,0.007339&num=1&t=h&z=18

Wet exit/Rescue skills are required.
I would recommend at least a 15 foot boat.
Ability to paddle 7-10 miles.
Proper clothing and gear for cold water temps.

Please reply if you are planning to attend.

(We should probably share cell-phone numbers if we don't already have them in case the weather is so bad we decide not to bother going.)

Hi Norm,

Cindy and I will join you at the start. My arm still have problem, so we will come in 2 lighter kayak; paddle at slower speed, and might turn around early. But, we will join you, Jordan, and Tracy tomorrow at 8:30.

It looks like the weather is not going to clear much till this afternoon. I think I'll pass this morning and do some inside work around the house instead. I hope I'm wrong and it clears for the rest of you to have a nice time.

I'm also passing on this - it's pouring here, and the forecast is still calling for more rain and scattered thunderstorms,
