Thursday night shift for tides
Hi
It looks like we have to shift the Thursdays to line up with the tides. This week high tide is 9:18 and next week it's 3:26. Do we want to make this week Hingham since we missed last week or do two Hanson's in a row?

Hingham sounds good to me. Do I have to bring a boat with me this week? The rain last week made for some easy packing.

I was kinda hoping to go to Hanson this week, but looks like the masses have deserted me...
Re: Thursday night shift for tides
You don't want to be in Hanson during low tide. Trust me.

Does that little pond have tides?
Re: Thursday night shift for tides
Well, I always avoid the place at low tide, but I just assumed...

I vote for Hingham this week. Even though I still need to learn how to read tide charts.
Count me in.

Untfortunately, Hingham is just a bit too far from Newport.

Re: Thursday night shift for tides
If anyone ever wants to do a skills session in a place with a little more dynamic water, we could put it together. Either out by the new inlet in Scituate, or down by little harbor in Cohasset. It's a little different doing rescues and what not if there are waves and or current. New inlet would be great because if there is even a hint of wave action, it gets intensified if the tide is outgoing. Good spot to practice surfing small waves and rescues in the small waves. Maybe some Thursday if the tide is too low for Hanson and there is an outgoing tide at the new inlet we could put something together.

Yeah, but where would we eat after?
Re: Thursday night shift for tides
I'll be there (Hingham) for paddling and PPR.

Re: Thursday night shift for tides
Looking at the weather forecast, it seems it will be a very nice night for paddling. The wind may be very calm.
Lots of people have told me they are busy this weekend and cannot paddle. Want some extra time on the water tonight?
Summer boat traffic has not seemed to pick up yet from what I've seen.
Sunset is at 8:23pm. The moon will be close to full.
High Tide is at 9:18pm.
Does anyone want to take this opportunity to stay out on the water extra late tonight?
Maybe we could venture out and around Peddocks Island instead of just Bumpkin? (About 12 miles instead of 6)
If yes, bring your boat lighting or see if I have spares in my truck to lend you before we launch.

I'm in for the paddle and the PPR. I'll bring my headlamp and a couple of lights for the kayak in case we stay out late.
When is launch time?

I'll probably arrive at about 4:30 and may take a spin around the harbor and come back to the beach at 6:00...

Re: Thursday night shift for tides
I would love to go to Hingham tonight, I couldn't make it last week. I am afraid I'm not as fast as most of the gang. Is it possible for me to paddle for a bit then head back so I don't hold people up? I can get to Hingham by 6pm.
Re: Thursday night shift for tides
Finally found this thread..... Not easily found by me as I was in Hanson and there was noone there!
No date in title, that might have helped. Also, the seems to be a "active topic" logo I never noticed before. But if I never opened general discussions I still might never have seen it. no note under skills sessions, where I might have found it. Any suggestions on how to use this bb so I won't miss something important again?
Won't be back til mid August. See you all then, unless some outing hits my fancy and I come up from CT.
