I'm planning on being there for both also
Re: Hingham Harbor - Thursday Sep 12
I will not be there due to a high school football game.
I hope the thunderstorms hold of till after dark for all of us. Have fun out there.
Don't feel sorry for me, I went out with Briggsy and Linda yesterday and we did a 22.6 mile trip in Mount Hope Bay and the top of the Sakonnet River.

Given the earlier sunsets, I'm assuming a launch of 5:30 at the latest.

Norm, I thought high school football games were Friday nights and Saturdays. Is your Thursday night paddling season done?

How was Hingham last night? I was thinking of you guys and wondered how much wind and texture you got!

It was a very good time. My old sprayskirt is very loose on my new boat, and the waves coming in from the side dislodged it from my combing a couple times getting water in my boat, so I was a little on edge, so to speak. But I got some good bracing practice in. I'd love to go back out there with a tighter sprayskirt under the same conditions. I'm online ordering one now.
Everyone got there early except for one person that didn't get there until almost 5:30. (Oh alright, it was ME, ok?!?) We went out to Grape and back. Warm and humid, but with lots of breeze too keep us comfortable.

No, I'm not done on Thursdays...I'll be out there as long or longer than anyone else...
The schools are more sensitive to everyone's holidays now. The Jewish holiday Yom Kippur is September 13-14 so they scheduled the football game to avoid the holiday. The MIAA (HS sports governing body) has made major changes to the football playoff schedule this year. Between the changes and the EEE threat, the schedule is crazy. Everybody prefers Friday night and about half the games are on Fridays, but they had this one on Thursday and there are a couple on Saturdays too. The biggest pain is having them before sunset, 4:00pm start, till there is a hard freeze to kill off the mosquitoes.

Thank you for the update, Pat. The waves must have been pretty crazy if they manage to dislodge your spray skirt!
Glad you guys had a great time, and were able to make it all the way out to Grape and back despite the early sunset.
