Oh no! Too close to home! (although the description is not necessarily of a great white.... and the capture of a seal is really doubtful...)
Not at all thrilled about this.

I have the perfect solution to keep seals and probably sharks away. Keep a camera in your PFD pocket. As soon as you start to pull out a camera to get a picture of a seal that is out in open water, they dive and you never see them again. I assume (or hope) the same would work for a shark.

The girls who got knocked out of their kayaks were shooting with a go pro, so I think that debunks that theory. I'm just thinking of all those seals out by Minot light that come back in this time of year, must be like a buffet, I just don't want to be mistaken as an appetizer.

Those rivers have got to be pretty dry right about now...

We had two days of water on the West last weekend, with sun and 80 degrees. Sunday there were no lift lines.
Foliage seems behind schedule.
Still no sharks

Going to need a bigger boat, or a pet Orca...

I remember that Brian Schulz of Cape Falcon Kayaks once did a trip through Tiger-shark-infested waters by painting zebra stripes on the bottom of his kayak.

Maybe I'll get seal decals for the bottom of whomever's boat I happen to be paddling with. Hopefully I'm worked up over nothing, people on the west coast have been dealing with them forever. I'm just glad I got the majority of my swimming over with a few years ago, but we all are just between swims.

Maybe there's a new business opportunity in tiger stripe decals for kayak hulls.

I'm sure you'll scare the shark right off the top of your deck when it gets there
Paddle with a big smile, its contagious

Cape cod online has a link today for 14 footer tracked inside well fleet harbor. Probably because of the seal colony that we love to visit.

One swam through the surfers lineup down near the inlet at Nauset. Cleared most of the surfers out, then the shark research boat showed up trying to tag it. Just a 17 footer...

Re: Great White Shark Attacks Kayakers In Plymouth
My wife and I were surfing with friends at Folly Beach in South Carolina probably 10+ years ago. Perfect conditions, Sarah, who isn't that comfortable in the surf, was really putting it all together, making some great runs. A few hundred yards down the beach, another paddler had a decent sized shark bite the stern of his boat. Teeth still embedded, surf session over.
