I'm running a 5 week pool session at Arlington boys and girls club starting late Feb. These are Sundays from 5 to 7 pm.
Unfortunately we can't fit sea kayaks into the building, but we do have rental boats available.
You can sign up for instruction or just pool time. For more info check the link below or ask me!

Awesome!
Re: Boston AMC pool sessions
Chris,
I'm interested in brushing up my Class 2-3 open canoe skills this spring. Can you suggest any options?

Hi josko,
The nh AMC whitewater school does teach oc1 in april.

We offered a canoe class last June, but didn't have any takers. If you are interested I can see if my instructor is willing to teach. We do have rentals available for Boston trips and classes.
Once the deerfield schedule is released we'll plan our class schedule.

Zoar outdoor is another option, just show up and everything is included. Love their salsa and cookies...
Re: Boston AMC pool sessions
Thanks Chris - can't make April 11/12, but am very willing to look into other options. Zoar sounds like a great suggestion. Would you know of an instructor there I can ask for by name?
FWIW, I did a great deal of C2-3 open canoe back in the 70's, so I won't be starting from total scratch. That is , IF it comes back and paddling style hasn't changed in 40 years.

Josko,
At zoar there are lots of great instructors. Bruce Lesseps, Janet cowie, jim Sullivan, Ben natusch, and Jayson seamans are all great instructors who teach open boats as well as kayak.
Is this to qualify for a bcu cert? If so, are there others who would be interested? If there are a few people interested I can work on getting an AMC class, which would be less money than zoar. We scheduled one last year but had no interest. Ours would be June or July.

Chris,
I'm just trying to brush up skills in advance of a trip. I'll follow up with Zoar.

FWIW, I've contacted Zoar, but it would be great to round out their instruction with some early-season open-canoe trips. Anybody interested?
