Looks great! You really think you can finish it in a week?

How will it be finished (i.e. paint or varnish)?

Varnish on the deck, and paint (dark green, I think) below. Can't wait!

All right, well, perhaps it won't actually be in the water this weekend, but it's getting closer!

Not this weekend, but soon!

wow that (porn add) was really obnoxious I hope that person is kicked off the site, anyway how long total has it took for you to build that. Last year before I bought my kayak I was going to build a pygmy osprey but I figured I'd save time and money by buying a used plastic boat on craigslist. I still think I may someday upgrade to the wooden boat just because my perception eclipse 17 sealion is a little heavy for me to cartop.

Man, somebody really gets excited about building boats, eh? Perhaps that particular comment could be removed from this thread?

Anyway, we've been working on the MC13 on and off now for several years. But we're really getting down to the nuts and bolts now, and we hope to have it in the water in the next few weeks. If we boil all the work down, I'd guess at a total time of one to two months, working steadily but not compulsively.

Pricewise, the kit itself was $600 when we bought it on sale.

Here's where we are now:

Thanks, we're rather proud of it! It's not quite ready yet--still a few more coats of epoxy to add, then varnish the deck and paint the rest, add the paddle holder and the anchor holder, and put in the fore and aft rope holes. Oh, and another few coats of varnish on the seat...

So all together, another week or so--just in time for the tourists to leave so we can have the Cape back to ourselves! Yay!
