Anyone up for a Tuesday evening paddle?

Post by Birdseye »

Tonight's a good night for me to get out an paddle for a while. The tide's high at about 4:30 and I can be on the water by about 5:30.

Any takers?? Dux Bay, The Spit, ..... ?

Actually, Sue and I were talking about maybe doing the Spit tonight. It would be a casual paddle, since this is only Sue's second time away from Curlew Pond.

Too late? We probably couldn't do much earlier. Our business "officially" shuts down at 5:00, and we have a few customers who regularly like to call in at 4:50 with last-minute updates.

Now that I think of it, to get home, eat a peanut butter samich, load up my gear and drive to the Driftway, it might be 5:45 before I get there. If you want to get a head start I'll catch up.

I don't think you'll find that the water will be moving all that much. Maybe a little chop if there's a breeze. But I'm just out for a pleasant paddle tonight. We won't be having dinner till we get home.

We'll practice our "Go get help" rescue maneuvers. I think there's a phone at TKO Shea's. And they're having a special on Buffalo Wings.

I would like to practice rescue maneuvers in rougher waters at some point, but tonight wouldn't be the best time.

Okay, I need the practice, and you can all practice the concerned look.

Wing night at TKO? Cholesterol free wings I hope.

I've been messing around with some video editing software and took some footage last night. I was filming into the sun, so the images are somewhat dark.

Below is a link to a zipped copy of a cheesy video I "produced" this morning. You'll need to download it to your PC and unzip it before you can play it. The zipped file is 5M and when unzipped it will be 18M. It took me 30 seconds to download with DSL (your mileage may vary). The video is in .MPG format.

I'll keep it on my site for a week or so, but will take it off after that so I don't eat up my monthly space and bandwith quotas.

Nobody needs to inform me that I have issues.... I'm quite aware, thank you very much :D

Steve, that is so cool! With the music in the background, it's way too classy for us!

What issues are you talking about? You're way too hard on yourself! :?

I've been having some video ideas, we might need to get together and talk about it.

Nice Job.

Nice pics, Pat. The 4th one must have been taken right after I hit the sandbar, since the daggerboard is up.

Actually, that was just moments after you shoved off from the spit and hadn't had a chance to drop it yet.

Hi guys.

What a great time we had last night. I can't believe such a big group of Wild Turkeys just dropped everything on a minute's notice!

I'm stuck in dial up, and could not open your video Steve. If Pat is impressed, it must be good. Hopefully I get to see it sometime!

And Todd, you should know me by now. I am not the sleeping-in kind of girl. Remember, I grew up on potatos and cod-liver oil. I have done my jumping-jacks already this morning!

You know, I almost said Clannad. They sounded a lot like the people who sing the theme song to the British series Robin of Sherwood (who happen to be Clannad).

They sound great. My kind of music. :)

Hi everyone,

I had a great time last night. Very relaxing paddle. What a perfect night for it! Loved your video, Steve. I thought it was Enya, too. Just right for the sailing scenes. In a couple of days I'll be ready to go again.
