Wild Turkey website insecure?

Post by tvcrider »

When I attempt to login to this website using Mozilla FireFox I receive a password insure message. This is a first for me.
It does not happen if I access the website using Google Chrome.

From the Mozilla website:

Insecure password warning in Firefox

Firefox will display a lock icon with red strike-through red strikethrough icon in the address bar when a login page you’re viewing does not have a secure connection. This is to inform you that if you enter your password, it could be stolen by eavesdroppers and attackers.

Starting in Firefox version 52, you will also see a warning message when you click inside the login box to enter a username or password.

Fx52insecurePW

Note: When you start typing in your login information, the warning message can obscure the password entry box. You can press the Enter key after you type in your username (or click outside of the password area) to dismiss the warning.

Terrific. Thanks, firefox.

The site does not have an encrypted connection. It's just a discussion site and has NO information that needs to be secure.

Pat,
Thanks for your prompt response!

Well I just tried to login to the Chesapeake Paddlers Association Forums, which appears to have he same web architecture as Wild Turkeys and I get the same login warning message there. I must be some change in the new update of Firefox.

I tried logging out and back in and didn't see anything. Not sure what the difference is. I'm up to date on their patches.

I think that the point is that if someone gets your password here, they could use it to try on another site.

But nobody ever uses the same password on multiple websites?
