Hopeful Hingham Thursday Start Date April 11

Post by kayakerjnj »

After our mid winter gathering last night, fueled by excitement about the upcoming paddling season, its time to start planning!

The tides look good for April 11 for our First Thursday.

If the weather cooperates and folks have the appropriate cold water attire, its always great to get the boats wet as early as we can.

Here's to winter finishing up here quietly, while it continues to give our skiers plenty to slide on up North!

Ken, would be great to start season with another Charles run...just to limber up the body parts!

I will start looking at dates. I'd also be interested in going to DC for the cherry blossoms.

Ken, I don't plan to have my skis put away until after June 1, but a paddle adventure on the Charles would be fun!

I've got Saturday June 12th this year penciled in on my calendar. It was June 6 last year and seemed like we were a little early. I will post 3 weeks before in the upcoming trip forum.

I'm wondering. The air is warm but the water is still very cold, what does everyone wear for clothing at this time of year? Wet suit, dry suit, or just pray you don't go into the water.

Hi Joy,

Ideally, you're wearing a drysuit, but anything that is cold water suitable should be okay. You're in a group, and not far from shore. We'll keep vertical and dry. Or you'll have one really refreshing experience :P

There's the NFCT Paddling Film Fest at REI in Framingham this week if anyone is interested.

It's harder to "defrost" when you've just spent and few days further south (Washington DC) where the weather was in the 70's and 80's.

Welcome!

Hi Roy, not this week (8/15) due to the timing of the low tide.
