Cohasset Harbor -> Little Harbor -> Minot Light - 8/29
The plan is to leave Cohasset Harbor early enough to get to Little Harbor at high tide (approx 8:30am), tour the harbor for about an hour, then go out and visit Minot Light. If we paddled straight to the Little Harbor from the launch in Cohasset Harbor, it probably wouldn't take more than half an hour to get there. So we should definitely be in the water BY 8:00.
More details to follow.

Ok, let's plan to meet in Cohasset at 7:30. If anyone knows of a good place to park, I'd like to hear it. We went down there ultimately parked near Kimball's, and climbed the fence into the Harbor. There are some great launch places, but I don't know where you can park without a sticker.
For those interested, here's our projected flight path:

How about we meet at the Atlantica Restaurant parking lot at designated time then I'll show you where we have to park. I already scouted it out a month or so ago and talked with the Harbormaster.
While at the Hanson Practice session today I was talking to Mark Stevens who made me want to give the current into Little Harbor even more respect than I was prepared to give it. He mentioned being watchful not to get caught in the eddy lines on both sides before the bridge I think it might be a better idea to enter the Harbor more like 30 minutes after high tide rather than right at high tide.
I'll be away from the computer until Sunday so try to post anything of importance before 10am tomorrow (Friday).

You would have to ask. It would be easier to show you than tell you but I'll try. If you take the road to the boat launch, I think it's Parker Ave, there's a road that goes off to the right before you get to the launch (up a hill slightly). The Harbormaster told me we could park up there as long as there weren't any functions going on and we wouldn't have a problem. Since we're going on a Monday we should be in the clear.
Maybe you can check it out over the weekend but I'm pretty sure we'll be fine.
Have you read the trip report I gave you for that trip. It talks about parking but is somewhat outdated.
I'll check the board in the morning.

I think the launch site may be what is called Govenor's Island. When you are headed south on the harbor road from Kimball's toward Scituate, you pass over a bridge where the water flows quickly at tide change. Take an immediate left and that goes down to the put-in. There is a function hall up the hill, more parking to the left side of the hall, I believe that is where the Harbor Master is also.
Have fun on Monday. Be safe.

This trip is becoming very much in doubt. The weather is starting to look really lousy. I have nothing against doing some foul weather kayaking, but this particular trip should be very scenic, and I'd like to save it for a nicer day. Also, I'm not sure that being next to a lighthouse in a thunderstorm is the smartest move...
I'd like it to be picture perfect as well. How do you want to handle it??
NOAA Weather says....
Monday: A slight chance of showers. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high around 73. South wind between 6 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Weather.com says....
Showers early then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day. High around 80F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Sorry - I meant to post this last night, but I totally forgot. Trip is cancelled for several reasons.
First, the weather sucks. Second, last I heard, Nelson's back was possibly injured, and since this trip was really his baby, I didn't want to do it without him. Third, we had a pretty intensive paddle yesterday, and I don't think that either Ron or I would be up for another today.
