Distance to Minot Lighthouse...

Post by Hans »

Hey all, I wasn't able to make it out to Minot Lighthouse this summer, because things were so hectic (lack of paddle time). So it may have to wait until next summer.
Once out of the harbor and past Strawberry point, how far out roughly is the lighthouse?
I know a few of you have made the trip using a GPS device.
Just curious.

It's about one nautical mile from Strawberry Point. A friend just sent me a link to free nautical mapping software from Maptech and I used the measurement tool to get the one nm answer. The software can be found at: http://mapserver.maptech.com/API/ChartD ... ontype=DMS
Don't give up - there might still be a good day to give it a try this year...and now you can park much closer to the launch ramp.

About 1.2 statute miles = 1.05 nautical miles

(You have to zoom in on the light to be sure, but if you do, you can see its shadow)
