Wild Turkey Paddlers

The kayak-camping workshop at REI was a great success, standing room only with 55 people attending. I am wondering if there is any interest in a South Shore counterpart. John Martinsen and I are available to hold this meeting, and Gary has offered his condo association's clubhouse in Rockland as a venue. I am looking at Saturday, April 20, as a possible date, although a weeknight would be fine with me too.

We would be talking about planning and executing a camping trip, as well as a look at camp cooking. This would not be so much a gear talk - we can do that on the forum - rather, covering the ways to prepare for a trip and carry it out safely and enjoyably, whether it's a week-long expedition or an overnight close to home. Discussion and input from the whole group would be welcome in this meeting. It would likely be scheduled for about 2 hours.

I would definitely be interested. I almost went to the Reading REI event. Not fussy about what day it is but noticed that April 20 is same weekend as the Kittery Trading Post Kayak Expo (which I'm planning to attend also).

I can't do the weekend after, might be able to manage the one before. Or, as I said, a weeknight. Cool that you thought about the REI one, Norm!

How about a Thursday night @ 6 Pm to get into the season of Thursday nights

Suzanne said there was absolutely, positively no way that you and she would be holding another kayak-camping workshop in the near future, so I went to the one in Reading last week! I very much enjoyed your slides/talk and highly recommend it to anyone interested in camping.

I like the idea of a recipe-specific post, so that everyone can read and contribute, even if they can't make it to the meeting.

When: Thursday, April 18 at 6:30

The clubhouse is 2 Tanglewood lane Rockland if you have a NEWER GPS. Many units will not have this street so use 252 Beech St Rockland. Our access road is next door and follow the signs.
There is parking in the rear and on the rear section of the access road. There is parking in the front and on Tanglewood Lane near the bocce court and pond. Please do not park on the berm or sidewalk.

Easy access from RT 58 & RT 123

Rt 58 to Summer st to Beech St to 252 Beech St & Beechwood Village

Rt 123 to Spring St and go thru the lights on to Beech St to 252 Beech & Beechwood Village
