Skills and Training - Hanson - June 26, 2014

Post by norm »

It looks like there could be thunderstorms and rain this Thursday. Some of us will show up rain or shine with the intention of at least going out for PPR. We had a problem getting a table at Venus III last time, so it would be nice to get a good head count so we can call ahead for reservations. Hopefully determining whether to go on the water will be a clear-cut decision, so we can choose to go to dinner earlier.

Would people mind chiming in again and answering the following questions for Thursday, June 26th:

1. Are you planning to come to Hanson even if it is raining and what time will you get there?

2. Will you be joining us for PPR? (I would guess that if it is clearly a non-paddling night, we should plan on PPR at about 5:30)

3. Would you be interested in trying a different restaurant (Grille 58) if we can't get reservations at Venus III.
( I have not been to Grille 58, so I don't know if they can accommodate a large group.)
( Grille 58 is 5 miles from the pond which is one mile further than Monponsett Inn.)

If anyone wants my cell-phone number because they may be arriving later and wondering whether we're paddling or going straight to dinner, send me a PM and I'll trade cell numbers with you.

1. I will be there at about 4:00-4:15, rain or shine.
2. I will be going to PPR.
3. I will try Grille 58 if Venus III is busy or if everyone just wants to try something new.

Thanks,
Norm

I'll get my boat on the car tonight and plan to arrive by 1630, rain or shine. Since I'm there for rolling/sculling practice, rain won't bother me.

Grill 58 or anyplace else is fine.

Skills: Yes
PPR: Yes
No Skills/PPR: Yes Do not care where we go to eat.

Norm,

I will be getting there just before you.
Great idea to get a general headcount and secure seating at Venus III, early.
Hopefully, all the other regulars won't think like you.

I will be there for both, and do not care where PPR is. I will be there early.

Lots of owners have dogs at the pond. As long as they're on a leash or attended they should be fine.

I'm going to have to be a little later than usual, so...
If the weather is looking good, I'm in for both. If the weather is crummy, I'll assume it won't be a long session and won't bother to hook up the trailer, so just PPR. Anyplace is good for me.

Norm, are you able to post to the forum remotely from your phone? If not, maybe just leave a kayak in the center of the parking lot pointed at the geographical location of the chosen restaurant.

There is a sign at the camp that says no dogs after June 1. But rules are usually put into place for idiots with no common sense, so I'm sure that if you want to walk your dog on a leash, no one will have a problem. If you want to have your dog dive off the dock in the midst of children, that could be another matter.

I can post from my phone I think, but there are a lot of frugal turkeys that don't have smartphones to read it. Thus the offer to share my number.

I might have to work tomorrow night again, argh! another Thursday paddling night down the drain! I'm sorry I was looking forward to getting out. If my plans change I'll let you know. I am due for a PPR :)

HI All!
We plan to be there for both but my place of work has moved to Middleborough. This means we will be testing out new logistics. We will likely be there before five and plan to roll unless there is lightning.
Either place is fine for PPR.

I plan on going to skills and training on Thursday night, is it still at Camp Kiwanee in Hanson (this will be my first time in a boat this year).
