It’s that time of year again when we will start our Club’s Skills Sessions

Our first Thursday is scheduled for this week, May 11th.

We host these free sessions for all who wish to participate, Club Members and those who just wish to get involved.
We have been conducting these sessions for many years now. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of them.
The more proficient your skills are, the safer and more enjoyable your days on the water will be.

These sessions begin as early as 4 PM, and can last until sunset or until the group succumbs to the need to PPR :D (post paddle refreshment)

Here is our location we utilize in Hanson https://goo.gl/maps/3VUQ1

Our Skills Sessions are an informal and low key opportunity for all to practice in a well-supported environment of fellow paddlers – instructors.

For those who are new to paddling, or have just joined the WT Flock, these sessions are open to all, flat water paddlers, sea kayakers, and WW Kayakers.

We emphasize acquiring your safety essentials first, wet exit, self and assisted rescues etc. If you’re looking for more excitement, you can work on more advanced paddling strokes and your roll too.

There are many regulars who have worked to acquire advanced paddling skills and they often assist other people achieve their own goals.

PFD’s are a must. Nose plugs, and scuba masks help keep the pond out of your sinuses. You’ll want them if you’re practicing skills that will immerse you in the water.

The first few weeks of our skills season are likely to be cool water, so please bring cold water attire so you can keep warm when you're in the water.

We’re hoping for a great paddling season ahead.

The weather leading up to this week has been cool and wet, and the balance of this week is also looking cool too.

What would folks like to do about Thursday?

Postpone until the 25th or dress for this Thursday?

For those who were planning to attend, please let me know what you'd like to do.

I'm happy to still have skills night, despite the cooler conditions.

I don't see wet, but the high temperature for the day is supposed to be 51. I'm probably going to wait a couple weeks.

I am going to wait. I don't feel like getting wet when water and air are in the 50's

There's a few hearty souls that will be still doing some skills tomorrow at Sunset Lake in Braintree. We will be parking and launching from the Stafford Street Parking Lot. People should be arriving from 4 PM on. This is just an improvised place to play for tomorrow. Back to our regularly scheduled play spot in at Camp Kiwanee on May 25th.

Congratulations to Diane who nailed a roll last night as we were wrapping up our skills session! Cool temps, a full drysuit, and cold fingers couldn't stop her!

Looking forward to warming conditions for our next session on the 25th in Hanson.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hello folks! I'm new to paddling and would love to join you all on Thursdays to gain skills, however I can not make a Thursday afternoon practice due to my full time work schedule. I live in Scituate and have some free time most weekends. Would anyone be able to join me for a paddle over the weekend? It would be great to meet others locally who enjoy paddling and who can offer some expertise while I am learning. Please feel free to contact me at my email: acd2b@yahoo.com.
Thanks for reading and I hope to meet many of you in the near future!

Sincerely, Andrew D. from Scituate
