Hi Jason,
Glad you enjoyed the trip reports. We have quite a few people who enjoy writing them.

How would you compare the cockpit fit of your Shadow to a Gulfstream. I tested Steven's Gulfstream and it was bit snug in the hip area. It would probably be a good fit if I ripped the seat out and padded it out myself. I was just wandering if the Shadow had a little more hip room.

Well, the two primary things you need are a digital camera that has the ability to lock the exposure settings, and some software to stitch the images together.

Years ago when I was initially getting into this, THE website for information was http://www.panoguide.com . I just checked it, and the site looks very different. It's still all about panoramic photography, but it's like some advertising company bought it and completely changed it. There might still be useful information...

My specialty is actually spherical panoramas, but it requires a steady tripod, which is tricky from a kayak. <a href="http://www.marshfield.net/cgi-bin/spheres1.pl?image=bluefishcove.jpg">Here is an example of one of those.</a>

Chip, I was never was able to test a Gulfstream or the HV version. So I can't compare them.
I was 6'6" 280 with a 42" waist and 36" inseam when I got the boat (I have lost about 4" in the waist since then. Once I am in the boat it's great. The keyhole is a little small and I have to get in an out of it like an ocean one. If I was a little shorter my knees would fit in and out better. If you would like to take a test paddle some day please let me know.

Pat thanks, my camera has a setting for pano mode and it shows parts of the last frame. I guess a tripod and solid ground are a requirement. As for doing that from a kayak I don't have that type of skill, my boat bounces/moves way too much. I think that will create a large jpg. It seams that based on the http://www.panoguide.com/howto/display/web.jsp link I need to find a viewer for my web server.

Thanks -Jason

Jason,

As far as a panoramic viewer, I've posted panoramics such that you can use the window scroll bar to pan the image

ex: http://www.get-outside.com/blueberry2/blueberry2b.htm

Not the prettiest option, but it works.
