Great pictures!

You weren't kidding when you said you were up close with the tanker!

Sorry it took so long. I finally gathered a bunch of pictures to display from the Salem trip.

Milling around getting ready to leave Abigail Adams Park area.

Image

When we got over near the Fore River, a tanker was coming up behind us.

Image

Image

Most of us stopped on the nearest beach and got out of our boats.

Image

But Nelson and Mike headed out to get a close-up look at the tanker.

Image

Image

Image

Image

We watched it pass by and realized it didn't create a big wake at all.

Image

Image

We all jumped in our boats and gave chase to watch the tanker go under the Fore River Bridge.

Image

Image

I bet this guy was glad his boat died far enough outside the river channel that he wasn't in front of the tanker.

Image

The tanker going under the bridge with a bunch of turkeys following close-by.

Image

Image

Image

Image

It was convenient that the commuter boat left the dock right after the tanker went by, so we didn't have to worry about it at it's dock by the Salem.

Image

We had to wait for more queued up traffic to go by before we could cross the channel.

Image

Image

Nelson is the first one to cross the channel and compare his little boat to the WW2 Cruiser.

Image

A few close-up shots of the Salem.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Everybody made their way to the bow.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Nelson took a look to see if he could squeeze between the ship and the dock.

Image

Image

We hung around at the bow for a few minutes before leaving.

Image

Skip took a closer look at an older docked tug boat.

Image

The stern of the Salem.

Image

Heading out of the Fore River.

Image

Image

Image

Heading to our lunch stop on Raccoon Island.

Image

Image

Trying to choose a good spot to land. Not much clear beach.

Image

Everybody eventually found a spot to land and pulled out their lunches.

Image

Image

Tracey's shoes became an early topic of conversation.

Image

Pat and Nelson had some fun skipping stones.

Image

Image

Image

Then Skip made the mistake of walking by in front of Pat. Pat decided to stop skipping stones and started stoning Skip!

Image

Tricky Nelson asked to take a look at my camera and used it to take a picture of me. Now you can't accuse me of never including pictures of myself.

Image

After lunch, we headed back towards Webb Memorial Park and stayed closer together this time as we crossed the channel.

Image

Image

We stopped for a moment near Webb Park to call Jordan who wanted to join us for PPR. While everyone was waiting for me to make the call, Skip got out his new sail to give it a try.

Image

Image

Image

Jordan was waiting at the Abigail Adams beach to great us when we were done paddling.

Image

Thanks for planning a nice trip Chip.

It takes a while to put 2 and 2 together when you abandon the flock.
