As many of you know, I participated in an AMC camping trip in Stonington Maine last week. I'm going to try to put together a series of trip reports to share our experiences in the area. The first segment will be about the campground. Old Quarry Campground is a kayaker's heaven. They cater to kayakers like no place I have seen before.
See their website at: http://www.oldquarry.com/
The AMC piece of the camping trip didn't start till Tuesday, but one of the campers, Sherry, had contacted the campground and found that there was a possible trip in the works for Isle Au Haut on Monday. (Sherry is probably the campground's biggest advocate and takes lessons from their instructors and joins their group trips.) They needed a few more people and kayaks to fill up the boat and meet the minimum for the trip, so Sherry emailed Jerry who arranged for more of us to arrive early for a Monday non-AMC paddling trip. So, that's why we were there Sunday through Sunday instead of just arriving Tuesday like was in the original plan. But the story about Isle Au Haut is for the second segment. First some info about the campground.
