A brief summary of the Wednesday crews trip to the Monomoy Lighthouse......
9am..... At the put in. Dave- "If anyone feels like they want to continue around the tip of Monomoy and come back up on the Atlantic side then go for it. Personally I'm staying on this side [the shark free Nantucket Sound side]"
11.30am.... At the Lighthouse Landing at the tip of Monomoy. Josko- " Is anyone interested in going all the way round ?"
Reply limited to lots of head shaking.
12.10pm....On the east side of Monomoy, having hiked past the lighthouse, standing on the beach looking out at the calm, flat Atlantic. Norm- " Well if anyone wanted to paddle round, today would be the day."
12.45pm....Back on the Nantucket Sound side having lunch. Josko- "I'm going round, anyone care to join me?"
Norm and Sue- "We'll go"
Bea and Ken- "We'll go if everyone else goes"
Dave- "OK, I guess I'll go"...thinking to myself "stay in the middle of the group and don't hang back"
4.00pm....Back at the put in. All- "Great trip everyone !!!"
It was a great trip, thanks Josko for convincing us all to go round!!!!
I didn't have my camera but others took plenty of pics.
Total mileage 18.6 nm (21.4 miles)

I hard on NPR today (7/20) that six great white sharks have been sighted off Monomoy island this week. I guess we should have looked a little harder.

That was a much easier circumnavigation of Monomoy than last year. It was almost too easy. Great day out there. The seals on the ocean side made it much more fun than if we had gone back on the sound side. Just as Sue was saying something about the monotony of paddling along the beach, we came across the seals that came out and entertained us for quite a while. Made the miles go by in no time at all.
Maybe next time we'll get some shark action for some real excitement!
