On the third day of the Muscongus Bay scouting mission, the weather forecast seemed similar to the previous two days, but with more wind. It was supposed to be about 9 mph in the morning, rising to 16 mph by about noon and staying at that speed all afternoon. We discussed the route before leaving the campground and Ken and Rick came up with the plan to tackle the 4 mile crossing of the middle of the bay early, before the wind picked up. Little did we know what was in store for us after we made the crossing.
