Breakfast on the North River
A beautiful morning for a paddle. Todd and I left Union St at 7:30am and paddled up to Blueberry Island (Couch's was occupied by the Hingham Jr. High Adventure Club... all 70 of them). There we cooked up some breakfast of apple/cinnamon biscuits, scambled eggs, and coffee. I REALLY need to learn how to bring my one-burner to a simmer. I couldn't seem to get the heat low enough not to blacken the biscuits a bit (not an issue with my Coleman 2-burner)... but, they were still tasty. I won't say that I would have made Doug proud... but, I don't think I would have disgraced him, at least.
The foliage is almost "there" and the early morning fog rolling over the river really set a nice fall mood.
Thanks for the company Todd.

It was a beautiful morning for a paddle. Linda was a bit concerned that would be warm enough, but with proper layering of cotton sweat pants, and water repellant pants, my lower half was warm, and 2 moisture wicking shirts and my first time wearing dry top and neoprene gloves, I was toasty.
I always enjoy the river. It doens't have the texture of the ocean, but it is always peaceful. The colors are almost at peak.
When we stopped for breakfast, the coffee warmed the middle (by the way-what brand of coffee was that Steve-it was delicious). The biscuits looked burnt, but were crispy on the outside and tasty inside, just as I like them.
Seeing 70+ middle schollers paddling all colors of rec boats and paddles was very entertaining.
As always, the conversation was great. I will have some pictures later today. Thanks again Steve.

Nice shots Todd. You really captured that early morning golden hue in a couple of them.
