PLYMOUTH HARBOR SOUTH TO THE BEACHES - AUGUST 8TH SUNDAY

Post by ddempesy »

Hi all
I was looking for a trip on Sunday - (Hate hate hate to miss Saturday !) But can't make that one.

So I'm paddling out of Plymouth Harbor ( Soldiers Field Parking lot ) at 9 AM on Sunday 8th.
Paddling around the spit and down past the beaches to White Horse etc. and back.
Roughly 10+ miles

Let me know if there is any more interest.!
i'm going regardless - but would appreciate a response instead of a "show".
Thanks
Deb

I am in.

Can you clarify the meeting spot, as I am not familiar with that parking area.

Thanks,

I am thinking about it......

Deb, how do you like your Cetus LV? I am thinking about buying a glass boat, and the Cetus LV is on my list over boats to test paddle.

Bob - I think Deb meant to say Stephens Field, not Soldiers Field. Stephens Field is at: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 9&t=h&z=17

Deb - I'm thinking of joining this trip also depending on how much energy I have after the Saturday trip. Is Stephens Field the launch spot?

Hi all - sorry for my error = Norm is correct - Stephens Field it is and he gave the correct map info.
Plenty of room for parking and launching.
This will be the launch spot! 9 AM and 9:30 AM BIB ( Butts in Boats !)

Just a leisurely paddle of 10-15 miles down the coast. Nothing strenuous.
Look forward to your company -all of you !

Bea - You may certainly try my Cetus LV - I LOVE it !
Have always had P&H boats.

See you all on Sunday !

Sorry to have to bail on you all!

Sadly I'll have to do some chores tomorrow that will keep me off the salt tomorrow.

It should be a great day, have a great time!

Yes, Bea rolled into the park+ride lot with a yellow Cetus on top of her car and I thought maybe she borrowed Deb's boat for the day. It turns out she bought her own and had not even sat in it yet. (She had tried a demo of the same model on flat water.) So, her first real test of her new boat was a crossing at Woods Hole! Pretty good test.

Bea looked very comfortable in her new boat. Congatulations Bea! :D

See you in Plymouth today. I feel tired after yesterday, but can't miss another perfect weather day of paddling.

Thank you Deb for posting the trip! Loved it! Great workout on the way back with the wind kicking up.

On the return paddle back to Plymouth I realized I did not have my glasses on. I had taken them off while swimming, but had no recollection of where they could be. I hoped they would be somewhere in the boat, which turned out not to be the case. So Cindy suggested PPR at Plymouth Beach and we could take a few minutes looking for my glasses. So 5 of us were combing the beach realizing we were looking for the needle in the haystack. After calling it off, I took one extra glance in the general area where I thought we might have stayed..............and tada........there they were. Miracles happen. Thank you guys for helping me look, and thank you Wildwoman for all your entertaining "lost and found" story. It made the search enjoyable.

OK Bea...Let's have an "initial impression" review of the MV! (I thought you had your eyes on the LV.)

Judging by what I'm hearing the MV is a real winner. What say you??

Hi Finn.

I tried all the three Cetus models: the regular Cetus, the MV and the LV. The first one was way too big, but with the MV and LV I really could not tell much of a difference. So it was not an easy discission. In the end it came down to three factors: a little more volume for camping out of the boat, a little more stability, and yes........the color!

I am very happy with my decission, and it is a treat to have a skeg that works. You are welcome to try the boat any time. Hope you are feeling better. Are you going to be able to paddle soon?

Hi Finn- I had the opportunity to paddle the CetusMV for a week in Maine. We had currents, surf, camped and circumnavigated Ilse au Haut. It's a really nice boat. Neutral in all wind conditions, stable and surfs like a madman. It's likely to be my next boat.

Well, the Cetus looks to be the way I'm going as well if I choose the composite route. My problem is that I am brutal on my equipment -- so I may opt for plastic after all. Still in no position to go yet, though.

...Which is currently OK by me. I'm out of action this week - shoulder is still hurting. But its improving every day...so I hope to join everyone at Hingham next week.

Mike - It was funny to watch Bea jump out of her boat long before she reached shore this past weekend. So many years of running aground and dragging her boat around...I didn't see her do that once. She wasn't letting anyone sit in it, so Jordan plunked himself into it when she wasn't looking. He almost didn't get his birthday treat after that trick!

Much easier to beg forgiveness than it is to ask permission LOL

I didn't even put my feet in it, but it did get the reaction I was hoping for :)
