Plymouth Harbor around Clarks Island - Sat 6/25

Post by Chip »

The plan is to launch at 8AM from Nelson Beach in Plymouth. Paddle out to Long Beach, cross over at Bug Light if the traffic isn't too bad and stop on Saquish for a quick break. We will then paddle around Clarks Island and head back to Nelson Beach.

Should be an 8-10 mile trip. About 3 hours.

Those of you who haven't paddled the inner harbor can do so at the end of the trip. It is a nice take.

This is a good transitional trip for those beginning sea kayaking.

Wet exit/Rescue skills and a sprayskirt are required.
I would recommend at least a 14 foot boat.

I'm hoping I can participate in this trip. Arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday morning, so I hope to be plenty recovered enough by Saturday to paddle. Ever seen crutches strapped to a kayak?

Slight complication... realized I committed to a paddle Sunday, previously... may not be able to paddle both days so if I'm not there early, I'm not coming... sorry for any confusion but it looks like Plymouth Bay will be full of yaks, anyway! Have a Great One!

If he does, make sure to admire the beautiful manicure and pedicure his daughters gave him for Father's Day. Lots of sparkle!!!!

The only reason he gets a pass is because it was from his daughters. No Dad says no to the daughters.

Hey Jordan,
Could we talk you into a paddle. I think we've got enough boats that can tow you as fast as you want.

I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...

Stopped using crutches today, so now all I gotta do is prove to my wife that I can load my boat into the truck.

Hopefully the weather forecast will improve.

I'm planning on joining you if the weather looks promising. I'll check the board before I leave in the morning (6:30am). How early will you make the decision to paddle or not?

Audrey,

The guys may be at the camp in Plymouth already and may not have access to see your message or post anything in the morning. You may have to make your best guess on your own tomorrow morning. Personally, I don't have anything better to do on a Saturday morning, so I'll probably just drive down there and see what it's like.

Jordan,

I tried to call you at about 11:00am to see if you wanted to come down to Plymouth for lunch but it turns out I only have your work number in my BlackBerry. Sorry.

Five of us showed up and paddled a modified route from the plan due to the forecast. We stayed along the shore and paddled to the Jones River and back. Chip, Ron, Nelson and Audrey took out and I continued into the inner harbor to take a look at the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock.

So, we did not go out for PPR.

Have a good weekend,
Norm
